Woody cocoa with much complexity, more atmospheric than gourmand
This was an incredibly evocative olfactory experience. Only in the initial moments after spraying did I smell a photorealistic mint cocoa beverage. After a few moments on my skin, it began to evolve into something far more atmospheric and complex. The cocoa here is very woody, but besides that, I can’t describe exactly what I smell in this fragrance. It feels like a perfect replica of places I’ve been before - buildings more specifically, the old Victorian houses of my city with narrow staircases and well-worn carpet, decorative bas relief on the ceiling cornices, and no insulation; cigarette and fireplace smoke soaked into wooden furniture and upholstery over many decades.
Having not stepped foot in such a house since I was a child, this fragrance unexpectedly hit me with an overload of nostalgia. I have a soft spot for “old building” scents for this very reason, but I never could have guessed from looking at the notes that Mint Cocoa was going to be one of the best representatives of the genre. I just wish I knew what notes to look for to find more scents like this.

Winter as a child
This beautiful fragrance starts off with a rather strong mint note which only lasts for about 1-2 mins and then starts to fade into a more soothing and pleasant note. Once it starts to dry down, that chocolate note really starts to come through creating an amazing and pleasant masterpiece of a scent.

Mint cocoa reminds me of spending a day in the winter at my grandma's home, everything about this perfume is just amazing. In my opinion, its definitely worth the money.

Cocoa with touches of mint, spices, resins, woods
Sampling Pineward Perfumes Mint Cocoa, one of the house’s more recent releases, fittingly a blend of the two main notes, cocoa and peppermint, against a backdrop of woods, spices, and resins. I frankly like that it is not overly minty, which would ordinarily be my fear in approaching any mint-named fragrance. The lightness and sharpness of the mint provides an interesting contrast to the darkness of the spices, woods, and cocoa. It really works quite well, better than I expected even if it’s not among my very favorites of the line.

Mint Cocoa is extrait concentration and has the same pricing as much of the line, at $205/135/80 for 57/37/17ml, and it performs very well, with quite high value, in my opinion, given the quality, uniqueness, and performance.

That this is also sold out for most sizes reinforces either a bottle shortage or the house being on a winter break. Perfumer/owner Nicholas Nilsson is great about updating e-mail subscribers about the house’s.

Mint Cocoa: Review 01
This smells like a mug of warm milk that just got a York peppermint patty dropped in and melted to make the silkiest, richest, mintiest, and darkest hot chocolate you’ve ever drank.

If you’re expecting the fragrance to smell like its name, you’re going to like it. This is like - objectively good if you are actively expecting a mint dark hot chocolate drink fragrance. 8.5/10

One of the greatest of all time. Eating a Thin Mint on a cabin porch. Easily the most photorealistic chocolate I’ve ever smelled.

I hesitate around cocoa as it can be so synthetic, but this is eating Andes candy in a room with incense. Incredibly accurate to the name

Funny how even Pineward’s take on a chocolatey gourmand smells woodsy—like a grandfather who served as a Park Ranger for 40 proud years.
