In the Belly of the Beast Toskovat' 2025

There's something in there that clashes completely with my skin... a nope nope, I'm curious about the old formula but this one - a mess.
Faint ambergris, lot of leather and PLASTIC. Maybe if I squeeze my eyes I can get a glimpse of mullberries, and then PLASTIC. As if a bottle of PLASTIC was left in the sea for too long and started deteriorating... Nope, if I want to smell as if I was in the belly of a marine monster I have IV Grigia , thank you. This is... the temu-action figure made out of stinky materials of a man caught by the whale.

It's a movie you hated watching but can't stop fascinating over weeks later. The combined synthetic and visceral notes evoked an uncanny valley anxiety. I loved the ride, but it firmly stays a memory.

Crown: Red meat, latex gloves, electrical fire
Heart: stomach bile, salt, vile machinery
Base: vinyl, surgical steel

A very moist and ruberry leather that is so all enveloping with animalics and aquatic notes, its makes you feel you are inside the esophagus of a giant sea creature. A very deep and singular scent, that doesn't really transition; on the contrary, it feels you are completely engulfed by this organic rubber. To me this smells like a more one-dimensional scent profile of Hope by Frederic Malle. To me the emergent rubberiness of leather and oud are almost identical to both scents, but this ruberiness is employed in different directions. The one-dimensionality of Belly of the Beast is not a bad thing, btw; it announces what it wants to say, and insists upon it all the way to the end.

PS. I really enjoy this scent, but a lot of friends of mine that I've show this to, say the same thing: that it smells like a t-shirt drenched and soaked in sweat that's been left to dry. I don't smell it at all, but it's surprised my that truthfully a lot of people have told me the exact same thing, something that is quiet specific in its own right. Do as you please with that little tibit.

A big disappointment for me. I expected something dark, disturbing, and aquatic, and got mostly leather and industrial rubber/plastic.

I saw people online mention that the leather note in this one is similar to TF Ombre Leather, and I can confirm that. Once the interesting industrial notes from the opening fade, there isn’t much to cling to. In a lot of ways, it’s less interesting (and more expensive!) than Ombre Leather.

At the tail end you get more whiffs of ambergris, but it doesn’t save this perfume.

If I want a really masculine leather scent, I’ll just reach for my Ombre Leather.

I only tested it and i must say that is one of if not the best leather fragrance i tried. People say it gives them anxiety smelling it and i can’t fathom that with this sent. I smelled a lot of leather fragrances and every time it was fruits, citrus… and a sprinkle of leather or some animalistic distasteful leather. Well this one is neither. At first you smell a breeze of a salty sea, and then you transfer to some nice old man leather. Smells like a proper gentleman. I love the leather in here. I have yet to try the longevity or projection of this fragrance so i cant speak on that. I definitely think everyone should try it and should not be put off because it is a “artistic” fragrance because it really isn’t , it is however a masterpiece
