Very Nice!

I came across this via a blind buy of Lattafa’s Mohra, which I got for $30 at Burlington’s and supposedly clones Halfeti Cedar with a twist. I’ve not bought Halfeti. But it’s on my list. Regardless I was quite happy with Mohra. nnThe only thing is that Mohra was a bit heavy to wear during summer in LA. So I was scouting for something a little lighter in this scent profile. I am definitely happy with Zimaya Reserved Black, as it’s lighter like I was hoping, but it also carry’s a subtle sweetness. I mean wow! What a well blended fragrance. The bottle with its wooden cap! Perfect!nnThe fragrance has a nice woody and minty note that smells like a forest coming alive in the morning. Reminds me of Sequoia National near my Abuelos campo in the Sierra Foothills. Again a subtle boozy and balsamic sweetness. With the lavender rendering a clean and fresh sensation. If I was a poet I’d definitely be inspired by this.

This cedar is not black - but it has a lot to offer!

It has been on my watchlist for a long time. Initially out of pure curiosity. Now I have a whole bottle - the opportunity was very favorable. And I do not regret it. On the contrary - it is a completely independent perfume that reminds me of nothing I have sniffed before.
Primarily, it is a spicy-powdery herb mix with a clearly present lavender, I can hardly detect jasmine, BUT the ARTEMISIA - which smells so wonderfully green-herbaceous. And of course the moss that has settled at the base of an aromatic pine.
What smells like "cedar" is due to the refined combination of the fragrance notes. I cannot sniff anything "black" here, but something that seems to have the color "warm earth brown." It rises up from deep within and gently powders over the otherwise almost "silver-green" radiance. The fine PLEASANT sweetness also rises from deep inside. Absolutely fantastic, sophistication at its finest and wonderfully wearable in all seasons and for many occasions. A hidden gem and far too little appreciated fragrance treasure :-))

Turquoise in a Bottle!?

You free this Zimaya from a wooden box, the front of which can be slid open. Inside lies the truly beautiful bottle, which doesn’t come across as appealing in the photo here. The cap of the bottle is also wood-like.

Looking at the price, I am once again extremely positively surprised by the delightful scent that has come my way.

Without much thought, the color turquoise immediately came to mind when I first perceived the fragrance. A dark, serene turquoise, similar to the color of the bottle, just a bit less blue...
Turquoise is said to have a calming and gently invigorating effect, similar to what can be said about Reserved Black Cedar, if one wants to keep it brief.

The scent starts lightly citrusy, without being sharp or prickly, and reveals a fine spiciness from the very beginning, thanks to cardamom.
A slight floral note, white and pure, is also recognizable in the scent texture.

And right here, a pleasantly warm, slightly invigorating sweet note joins in, which always remains spicy, fresh, and clean.
This is clearly mainly due to styrax.
This is a natural resin that has a scent somewhat reminiscent of amber. For me, however, it is less balsamic, but a bit greener / grassier.
Balsam fir and moss complement this wonderfully, resulting in a truly great composition.

Some might certainly attribute a "shower gel note" to this fragrance, a comparison I have distanced myself from many times, as shower gel has such a variety of scents that the statement and comparison hold little significance.
But yes, the Zimaya does bring a certain invigorating and, despite the sweetness, fresh and pure character.
For me, however, the forefront is a harmonizing mix of styrax, balsam fir, and cardamom.

I paid around 15 euros for this, which I consider an absolute bargain in terms of price-performance, making the name truly deserving of being called a positive hit.

In my opinion, the scent fits perfectly into spring, chino pants, white shirt, light blazer. Ergo, perfect for business and the office and/or meetings.
In high summer, the sweetness then permeates the scent too strongly, so the right wearing time is just starting now.

On my skin, Reserved Black Cedar lasts about 6 hours, clearly noticeable, while the sillage significantly decreases after about an hour. Reapplying should not be a hurdle at this price.

Insider Tip

I have never expected so little and been so surprised. I can't deny that I have a soft spot for green fragrances. Not least because 2 Greenys are already among my favorites. This one ranks right at the top with them. It's love at first sniff. Such a delightful fresh balsamic pine scent, with such a profoundly fresh herbal quality. Simply enchanting. Anyone who loves green fragrances like I do should definitely give it a try. For this price, you get something surprisingly high-quality. Even the packaging practically screams quality.

H|S is above average. I rate the longevity of my fragrances as follows: 1 hour = 1 longevity. With overspray, I’ve even had 9 hours out of it.

Conclusion: My surprise of 2024. An insider tip for little money.
