Helpful Review
I own both Tiramisu Caramel and Eclaire.
I’d been taking a break from writing reviews, but I really wanted to talk about this one, so here I am again. Not that it matters.
Before I get into the actual review: if you’re considering buying this instead of Eclaire e, I’d stop you if you were my friend. Since Eclaire is more popular and usually more expensive than Zimaya, I can already imagine the thought process: “If they smell the same, why not get the cheaper one?” “Some reviews even say it’s better than Eclaire.” “A superior version of Eclaire? I’m in.” No. I’d genuinely tell you not to.
First of all, yes, this is meant to be an Eclaire dupe — but they are not the same fragrance. If what you love about Eclaire is that dense, milky, lactonic richness, Zimaya strips most of that away. The creamy milkiness is heavily toned down, leaving something noticeably lighter and drier.
And honestly, this doesn’t really smell like tiramisu either. To me, it’s more like caramel-flavored whiskey with no milk whatsoever. Instead, the powdery tonka bean stands out the most. This feels less like a gourmand lover’s perfume and more like something aimed at men who find Eclaire too overtly sweet or feminine. The tonka isn’t overwhelming, though, so despite being sweet, it never becomes cloying. Longevity also isn’t especially impressive.
Important warning: the bottle literally breaks.
No, seriously. Breaks. At first I wondered whether it was caused by Japan’s climate, but no — this is clearly a structural issue. I bought mine from a site called Makeup. It took about two weeks to arrive in Japan, came in a beautiful presentation box, and arrived without any visible damage.
But after around two months, the atomizer started getting soaked, and the cap began feeling sticky and slimy. The perfume was leaking. I kept wiping it down with tissues, but eventually the leaking juice started separating the inner glass bottle from the outer plastic shell, which then caused cracking. In the end, the front plate fell off, the cracks spread all the way around the bottle, and the whole thing basically collapsed. I ended up having to transfer it into an empty perfume bottle.
Honestly, this is the first time I’ve ever experienced something like this with a fragrance.
I also own Zimaya’s Zukhruf (pink) , and even there, the gold plating around the atomizer has already started dissolving from contact with the perfume itself. Seriously. Their quality control is clearly nonexistent.
So overall: Zimaya makes fragrances with extremely impressive outer packaging, but the actual bottle quality is shockingly poor. If you can tolerate that, then sure, go ahead and buy it.
