Platinum Égoiste by Chanel - old love never rusts or "so fresh & so clean"
…because love has no chance of rusting here!

Platinum is a precious metal that impresses with its outstanding corrosion resistance and has always evaded any attempts at rust or melting. Against all odds, so to speak - valuable, mysterious, gray-white, and absolutely robust. This makes Platinum Égoïste Eau de Toilette a timeless classic in men's fragrance that cannot be easily disturbed.

It comes across strikingly clear and knows exactly what it wants. It opens incredibly fresh, citrusy, and slightly floral/green. Almost metallic, thus living up to its name.

Later, Platinum Égoïste Eau de Toilette becomes woodier and spicier with the use of vetiver and galbanum. The oak moss also becomes more prominent over time, and the fougère accord can be detected.

But one thing remains consistent: fresh and clear, like its color and perhaps a bit sexy... Or as Outkast would say in their song: “Don’t you think I’m so sexy, I’m just so fresh, so clean - so fresh and so clean!”

But where does my old love for Platinum Égoïste come from?
During my studies, it must have been 2010, my then-flatmate and good buddy - greetings to you, Chris! - captivated me with "Platinum Égoïste (Eau de Toilette) | Chanel." “Dude, the scent is absolutely insane and the girls totally love it!” Chris is from Baden

And so it happened that we regularly doused ourselves with "Platinum Égoïste (Eau de Toilette) | Chanel." Later, my first own bottle (which was incredibly expensive for me back then) joined the collection, and compliments started pouring in. Ah yes, good ol' memories…

That’s why this old love initially found a regular spot in my bathroom cabinet and has since become an indispensable part of my perfume collection in my perfume cabinet.

The longevity is absolutely good for a freshie, though the sillage could be a bit stronger. But all of this does not diminish my (old) love for "Platinum Égoïste (Eau de Toilette) | Chanel." Because it was, is, and will always be a wonderful and special fragrance!

Masculin Pluriel by MFK - a modern master of its craft
Here, "craft" refers to the fougère accord. It is modern because masculin Pluriel does without the classic oak moss that originally characterizes this wonderful accord.

It represents a (if not the) modern interpretation of the fougère and primarily reminds one of a classic barbershop scent due to its strongly pronounced lavender note. The masculin Pluriel is a feel-good fragrance that never screams directly in your face to impose its scent molecules. It is kept rather fresh - not citrusy summer-fresh in the sense of classic freshies, but rather slightly spicy and a bit green.

The fragrance is not heavy or overwhelming, but envelops the wearer in a beautiful, soft, protective, and light cocoon. At the same time, a certain sovereignty and sense of security spreads…

From the cocoon - initially still strongly shaped by the lavender, which is rounded off by the freshness of grapefruit in the top note - a wonderful scent develops. The lavender is omnipresent and is increasingly supported by cedarwood and vetiver as the fragrance evolves. The leather is also always active in the background and never completely hides away. From the interplay of these components (cedarwood, vetiver, lavender, leather) emerges a wonderful butterfly that confidently flies out into the great wide world - protected by its "cocoon," the Masculin Pluriel.

The masculin Pluriel embodies a fragrance that is well-received everywhere and never rubs anyone the wrong way.
A timeless yet modern companion that works almost always; I can particularly imagine wearing it in the office/business and enjoy wearing it there.
It would also be great for meditating or reading a good book during the cold season in front of the Swedish stove.

Longevity and sillage are decent and really good for an Eau de Toilette.
The price is also - for an MFK - still acceptable for me.
After all, the fragrance is very elegant, precisely tuned, and of extremely high quality.

Grauton Parfums Pour Homme - The King of Men's Fragrance
Pour Homme can certainly be described as the King of Men's Fragrance. It has absolutely nothing to do with the often overly sweet and exaggerated Gaultier disco pumpers, but simply radiates class and a Fougère-like understatement.
Not a muscle-bound brute, but rather a man who stands firmly in life and doesn’t need to artificially inflate himself. The muscles are there, but they are well-defined.

A "mustache" also suits the wearer of this fragrance excellently - but, as mentioned, all with style and not to be compared with the mate-drinking hipsters of modern times.
A scent for the true gentleman and perfume connoisseur. I often get associations with Ben Bernscheider, if anyone knows him. This fragrance would suit him perfectly.

The components (and there are indeed quite a few) are wonderfully harmonized, developing into what, in my eyes and nose, is a rounded and beautifully dreamy companion. A classic fragrance with hints of modernity. Many thanks to Martin for this masterpiece!

It starts citrusy with a pronounced lavender note that is omnipresent, initially combined with soapy and green/spicy hints reminiscent of fir and spices (caraway, clove). A little later, slightly floral nuances join in, and the oak moss gradually makes its way to the forefront. In the drydown, the classically elegant base notes of patchouli, vetiver, wood, and of course, musk and a hint of leather are prominent.

Its wonderful creaminess, clarity, initially a bit cool, later warming up, never overdone and always pleasantly present, makes this fragrance, in my opinion, the new King of Men's Fragrance.

The sillage is always present, but like everything about the scent, not exaggerated, rather very noticeable.
The longevity is also very good and above average - I can still smell Pour Homme in the evening.
And all of this at an incredibly fair price, with transparent pricing.

A fragrance that transports me to a time when "the world was still in order" and lends a kind of sovereignty to better endure current events...

Esencia by Loewe - Love at the Second Sniff
At the beginning of my perfume journey, I had the chance to get to know one of my absolute favorites, the Esencia Eau de Parfum

The scent, despite its freshness, evokes no associations with sun, beach & sea, but rather transports me imaginatively to a waterfall in the woods on an early summer morning - the first rays of sun make their way through the trees of the forest and reflect excitingly in the crystal-clear water of the rushing waterfall. The peppery opening of the fragrance is simply wonderfully fresh and invigorating, like the sunbeams in the mist of the bubbling waterfall. A note of juniper joins in, along with some lavender and cedarwood. The greenery of the forest is also enhanced by the exciting use of basil and tarragon. The sun rises at the waterfall...

When the summer sun finally breaks through, the Esencia Eau de Parfum shines in its lightly "green" pepper dress, revealing its true beauty: wonderful notes of sandalwood, vetiver, and a hint of moss join in the base. The forest has awakened, and the moss is already slightly warmed, the fresh breeze from the steam (pepper) cools, and the wood of the forest creaks in the wind.

The fragrance is balanced, not over-the-top, and represents a great composition. It is very fresh without being aquatic, with wonderful woody and slightly spicy undertones - simply a special scent. In my opinion, it is the "greener" and better version of Aventus, without smoke and pineapple.

But why love at the second sniff? Because the first sniff reminded me very strongly of Creed's Aventus or its Arabic clone "Club de Nuit Intense Man (Eau de Toilette) | Armaf," which I didn't like at all - it was too loud and over-the-top for me, and I have no desire to be shouted at all day. However, after the initial "shock" wore off, I discovered in Loewe Esencia a balanced, not over-the-top, and greener fragrance, and I was smitten...

Moreover, I have already been approached several times about how wonderful (and unique) I smell today. And who doesn't like to hear that?

Roja Elysium Parfum Cologne - this is how I want to smell
My debut work…

I have always been interested in fragrances and recently started to really engage with them - also through the forum. So, you are to blame for my collection growing significantly in a short time :-)

As I began my fragrance journey, I quickly came across the "Elysium Parfum Cologne (Eau de Parfum) | Roja Parfums" through research here on Parfumo and immediately got a small sample.

Once the sample arrived, I started to "immerse" myself in it. And what can I say: it was love at first sniff. This is exactly how I want to smell.

The fragrance initially presents fresh top and heart notes with a hint of citrus (grapefruit, lemon), berry notes (currant, apple), and has something slightly woody (probably from cedarwood). Nothing is dominant or shouts at you. Everything is in harmony and wonderfully balanced. The scent always feels elegant and well-rounded.

Later, the woody base becomes more pronounced, developing into a wonderful base note. This continues to carry berry and citrus characteristics, but cedarwood, vetiver, musk, and a certain spiciness (possibly from pepper?) clearly come into play and contribute robustly.

A truly perfect fragrance, which I have already been complimented on multiple times.
The sillage is of course not overwhelming but quite good on my skin.

Is it worth the very high price? I think so. And to be honest: for such a fantastic fragrance, for which there is - at least in my opinion - nothing comparable, it has to be worth it. It definitely is for me… It might sound a bit strange now, but you can almost smell the high price.
