Every fragrance is someone’s favourite

Every fragrance is someone’s favourite 9

Now this might seem a bit obvious and now that I’m writing this it probably is, but I’m going to share this with you all anyway.

So I saw a video of this but on a different subject a while ago and it made me realise something.

Every perfume is someone’s favourite.

Like for example I had the pleasure to try Simeone Andreoli’s “Sunplosion” 2 days ago and I did not like it. Like at all. Then, when I went to parfumo to write a statement about it, I saw someone who just give it straight 10’s, saying it was his favourite fragrance OAT.

This just goes to show that there is not a single perfume that is disliked by everyone, there is always someone out there who adores it. And because we all have different tastes (duhh) there are so many fragrances! There is something for everyone on this world.

I just find this wholesome to think about. Let me know what you guys think about this!

I strongly disagree. Have you ever smelled Sécrétions Magnifiques ? Case closed😂

Well actually I haven’t, maybe when I get my nose on it I will indeed change my opinion haha. But still there are some people out there who love it not for the smell but appreciate the art behind it

Hmm I was too quick with my conclusion.. I see that indeed some people have rated it a 10. Wow.

The world would be a pretty boring place if we all liked the same things.

Yeah that’s what I mean. Always someone out there. Not sure if those people who gave SM a ten are alright but yeah lol.

So true... And on the topic of Secretions Magnifiques, if you think there's something wrong with the people who rate it 10/10, you're wrongly assuming it smells the same to everyone! I've heard a number of stories of people sampling it expecting to be disgusted as is the usual reaction, and then finding it smells like (for example) completely inoffensive flowers to them. Not only do people's tastes differ but different people literally smell entirely different chemical compositions sometimes, or their skin chemistry transforms the scent. I've had this experience a lot and am often shocked at how much my olfactory experience of a fragrance differs from every review I can find of it. Like we're smelling completely different fragrances.

I have, it was fine/boring.

I'm half convinced everyone who describes gag reflexes and horror is just trolling me specifically or something.

So while it isn't my favourite, I suppose I'm an object lesson all the same : )

Persolaise tells an interesting story regarding Sécrétions Magnifiques. You need to read his initial report https://persolaise.com/2010/03... and the follow-up https://persolaise.com/2010/11....

Yeah, not surprised. There are perfumes that smell amazing on my friends, on my sister. But when I spray them on, it`s a totally different experience. I love smelling Cherry Ink on my sister. On me, playdough and cherry cough syrup. Un Matin d'Orage Eau de Parfum on my friend, a masterpiece! On me, orange juice and rubber. So I could never judge anyone`s opinion on perfumes.

You’re absolutely right—every fragrance has its fans, no matter how polarizing it may seem. Scent is deeply personal, shaped by memories, culture, and individual preferences. What smells unpleasant to one person might be pure magic to another. It’s what makes the fragrance world so diverse and exciting!

Couldn't agree more! 👍

The very next review on my beloved 10/10 Solo Vulcan gives it 2/10 and says it's vomit inducing. Quite a few other reviews I've read about it all over the internet call it a variation of "worst thing I've ever smelled". That does tell me to be more cautious about where I wear it – I don't want to be the reason of someone's headache in a crowded town square. But that aside – I just find it kinda funny how different everyone's olfactory systems are.

Love all of this so much, you summarized it really well!
