Favorite scented candles

Favorite scented candles 1

Recently got Diptyque's Milan for my wife and it is AMAZING, probably better than my previous favorite from them, Bois de Feu.
Crate & Barrel's Monochrome #6 (Dusk) is a great rose/frankincense, does a good Opus XII - Rose Incense impression. And it's very strong.
Palo Santo & Sage is probably my favorite B&BW candle.

What about you guys, what's everyone's favorite candles?

I never really found interest in scented candles, until I received one, Atkinsons Gingerbread Deluxe, as a gift alongside a fragrance order. And I immediately fell in love with it. So currently, that's pretty much the only scented candle that I've smelt and enjoyed 😂😅 But I'm definitely open to trying out more

Ah, is that the one that Diptyque's official website was selling for a limited time with scents inspired by each city? Milan looked good.

I like to make my own candles with soy candles and essential oils. But the candles I like are the only ones that not everyone there can buy. So there's not much point in introducing them...

It's a candle from my country's Marks & Web brand

https://www.marksandweb.com/pr...

It uses only carefully selected natural fragrances. This geranium is amazing.

The other one might be very surprising. It's a soy candle called "Vanilla" sold by DAISO's private brand Standard Products. It's completely unknown. But it's a gourmand vanilla scent that I, a vanilla lover, can confidently recommend.(a bit walnut-like) It has a wooden candle wick, so it sounds like a bonfire.

But it's always sold out. That's because it's 300 yen for 100g!!(2.10$)

I love home fragrances, but I prefer reed diffusers for their safety. I've had Baies by Diptyque and I loved its fragrance which fills a house. I'd like to buy another Diptyque scented candle our reed diffuser but I don't know which ones project the most.

Re: safety - instead of burning them, I use a top-down candle warmer (so it only heats up the top layer of wax, preserving the scent longer on the rest of the candle)! It also has a timer so it shuts off after 2-4 hours, to prevent the glass from overheating.

Thank you so much for recommending this @Akira1005 - it sounds lovely, especially since I know you value "natural-smelling" fragrances (and what a bargain price)!

@Omnipotato haven't considered Crate & Barrel for candles, but I do have a gift card there so I'll have to check this out - thanks!

My favorite candles include:

BBW
Cypress & Amber
(cypress, smoked amber, bergamot)
Autumn
(Gala apple, fig, eucalyptus, fir balsam)
Pink Lilac & Vanilla
(lilac, dewy greens, vanilla blossom)
Fresh Mint & Tea Tree
(spearmint, tea tree, rosemary)

Slatkin
Jasmine & White Peach (jasmine, white peach, bamboo, apricot)
Tiare Sunrise
(tiare, coconut, gardenia, honeysuckle, jasmine, vanilla, musk)

Capri Blue
Volcano (tropical fruits, sugared oranges, lemons, limes)

And since this is getting long... 😅 a bunch from Voluspa

I have to second @Gourmandgrl with the Volcano - 06 candle, it's INCREDIBLE!!! I've bought so many over the years. For those who like Cheirosa '62 and want a candle that smells like it Pink - Vanilla & Dreamy comes in a candle that smells pretty identical to SDJ as well!

Thank you so much for recommending this @Akira1005 , I have a DAISO store nearby so I'll have to see if they have this vanilla candle in stock for me to smell - it sounds lovely, especially since I know you value "natural-smelling" fragrances (and what a bargain price)!

I checked and it says that they opened their first store in Illinois in February this year. This means that it's highly likely that they don't stock it at regular DAISOs. (It's not even stocked at the regular DAISOs near me.)
3040 US Hightway 34.Suite 005,Oswego,IL 60543
opened 2/8/2025
It's in the suburbs so it might be hard to get to.
https://standardproducts.jp/bl...

It has a rich scent like vanilla + crushed almonds + pistachios. Maybe it's like pound cake. But it doesn't taste artificial, and it's pretty rare that it doesn't give me a headache!

Ah thank you for checking @Akira1005 , that was really kind of you! I did not realize it was only sold at a specific "Standard Products + DAISO" combination store, and I unfortunately am not near this one in Illinois. But hopefully they will build more of these stores in the future here! 😊

Lempi by Skandinavisk

Winter Spice by Avon

Ambre Ardent and Oud Grandeur candles

Cacao Collection by Yves Rocher

...and all of them discontinued I'm afraid 😿 Fortunately I don't burn candles too often so I'm trying to make them last for a very long time 😅

No way, there's a candle called "Lempi"?? It was made for you! 🥹💖

@Gourmandgrl Yeah, it's absolutely awesome, it's by a Nordic brand Skandinavisk. They have perfumes too but the Lempi series is only home fragrances 😁 Lempi means love in old Finnish so that's probably why they picked that as the name of the scent 🥰

Love love love Diptyque: Vetyver is my favorite and it even spreads its scent when it's unlit! I have one for some 2 months, mostly unlit, and I can still feel it in my desk as I work. I love how vetiver really takes center stage and isn't masked with citrus!

I'm undertaking the big quest to find the perfect Iris candle though, and the Diptyque one is not really it: its scent doesn't fill a room and it feels more like a fantasy Iris accord that is borderline candy violet, and even though that's nice, I'm still craving the earthy, rooty elements of the orris roots. I'm hoping to try the Iris Pallida candle from Carrière Frères next!

Le Labo stan here. Verveine, Laurier, Pin, and Cypres are all monsters (in the best way possible).
