Most Underrated Scents? 2

Hey guys! I'm brand new here and I want to get a feel for the vibe of the Parfumo community. I'm here after learning some unsavory things about the owners of Fragnantica unfortunately Sad. But anyway, I wanted to know everyone's most underrated scent. Something you love that's not widely popular that you think everyone should own or at least smell. I'll through my hat in the ring first and say Midnight Bloom by Victoria Secret. It lasts all day and has notes of datura and sandalwood. Creamy, well blended, and super mysterious. I get told I smell amazing and high-end for cheap with that scent. What's your most underrated scent?

Hi! I'm relatively new here too but I like this site and Basenotes more than Fragrantica. I still use all 3, but I dislike the trolling on Fragrantica, and the reviews over there tend to be poor. Lately I've checked Parfumo or Basenotes before Fragrantica if I want to read anything at all. Quality > quantity!

Victoria's Secret perfumes are so nice sometimes! Bath and Body Works can be as well.

I found a cheapie called "Promise Me" from Aéropostale a while ago. It's a beautiful green tea scent, and very underrated IMO. I think I have a lot of underrated things though, cheap underrated stuff is my modus operandi 🤭

Welcome to the site (FWIW from another n00b here)! I think it's largely a better environment.

For me? Sauvage Eau Forte .

Absolutely don't get why it's so downvoted. It remind me of a forest. But its so sharp that I rarely can find a mood for it. Still a unique, worthy scent .

👋🏼 hi to you

Recently, I discovered Verde d'Arancia, a cheapie you can pick up at DM in Europe. It`s cheap as chips, but smells incredible, like freshly zested orange. It`s perfect for summer and it won`t get weird on your skin.

I would have to go with DANIEL by Napoleon and probably Winter Palace

L'Air du Temps Eau de Parfum is gorgeous but a not much talked about perfume (or people will call it 'old lady' whereas it actually is a youthful (not juvenile) scent and I seldom smell it on others, but when I do...wow...I recoginize it immediately and love it. Lasts all day and the sillage is so mesmerizing.

Very unpopular opinion: I love my cheapies and designer fragrances, majority of them are very underrated nowadays. I just can't understand why so many inexpensive fragrances get so much hate and only niche is appreciated. The quality or the uniqueness of the fragrance doesn't depend on the brand or the price.

Completely agree with you! In the perfume group where I moderate on Facebook we have a strict rule against "perfume snobbism" which is what we call what you described above. Just because it's a cheapie or designer, rather than niche, doesn't make it bad or unworthy.

In no particular order:

In the category of cheapies - Verveine Cedrat by Jeanne en Provence is so dirt cheap, and yet it is a fantastic scent, which so far I have not really smelled in any other perfume.

In the designers - Terra di Gioia, such a beautiful scent, honestly one of my top scents for life, and barely anyone knows it or talks about it I feel.

Milk Musk EdT - fantastic warm cosy smell, also a signature for me.

Majaina Sin - what a fantastic gourmand, blows me away every time I smell it, and I don't think it's very well known.

ELDO as a brand - their perfumes are really interesting and I feel like people throw them under the bus very often, act dismissively towards them, and I really don't get it. Nice bottles, interesting scents - why are they so disliked?

I haven't really tested much of ultra-niche things to be able to say "that is underrated or not well known" but these are my finds so far that I really think should have more attention.

Sounds absolutely awesome 😁👍 If I had Facebook, I would join that group for sure.

Not so much underrated because it gets high ratings, but a 'not much talked about' and 'unknown' perfume: Liu Eau de Parfum. It's gorgeous and should get more attention.

I feel the Spicebomb Spicebomb Night Vision Eau de Toilette and Spicebomb Night Vision Eau de Parfum get a lot of flak, mostly due to their departure from their namesake. They are far from spicy and don't really fit into the whole spicebomb line as a whole, with a different name they may have been better accepted by the fragrance community. They hinge more on the aromatic side and rely more on resins and nuts.

I like them a lot, especially the EDP, but they should have branched them out with a different name.
