...KuraiWith rice, I suggest to distinct two main types: there is the steamed rice note (more an accord actually) which reminds one of a bowl of freshly cooked rice ready to be eaten. Fils de Dieu du Riz et des Agrumes is the perfect example of this. Ginger, cilantro and lime complete the east-asian vibe. Other perfumes with a steamed rice note are L'Eau Papier and "Notes de Fond - Santal-Basmati | Affinessence" There is also the rice powder note. Rice powder is nothing like steamed rice. It is powdery in a make-up kind of way like heliotrope without the almonds. Here my suggestions are Blanc Poudre, Poudrextase and En PassantHope this helps.@Kurai Veey helpful. I'm more interested in the steamed rice note, but I find so many scents that just list "rice," without specifying whether it is rice powder, the steamed rice note or something else.

...JohnjssmithWithout knowing anything more than I did yesterday, I recommend Molecule 02 for a very clean, definitely modern amber, Ambra Aurea for something warmer, thicker and still not at all ambergris-like stinky, and Machrie for fresh, somewhat animalic, mineral amber.Same as before though, knowing more about your tastes would help offering suggestions that make sense for you :pBut you still made some good suggestions! I'm really looking for something different, that I might not ordinarily choose. Seeing what other folks like most is helpful. I'm just in an experimental stage. :)

...JohnjssmithAmber doesn't really have a smell of its own and many manufacturers interpret this note in wildly different ways, so it would be helpful to know what kind of smell you associate to amber, or what amber fragrances you've liked in the past that lead you to look for more.I know it's a kind of fantasy note.  I like different kinds of amber, which is why I just asked foljs for their favorites.  My purchase criteria is just "modern."  

...Yes, I often spray one fragrance on my wrist and chest and a different fragrances in the crook of my arm or any mix of pulse points.
