Tropical Punch Escada 2001

Why, this is a fun little number. I received a sample of this with an order and I figured, 'what the heck? let's give this baby a spin.' This is, by and large, not my usual taste, but I can appreciate it for what it is: tart, fruity, floral, and quite shampoo-like. I don't find it offensive at all, but in the realm of tropical fruits, I prefer the grand patriach/matriarch (?) of this that we know as Calyx by Prescriptives (now Clinique).

Tropical Punch grows a bit more lactonic peachy as it dries down, with nary a butyrate to suggest that any of these fruits are all that natural. They are Disney fruits, with zero blemishes, frozen in time, never to decay or rot. It is pleasant and refreshing, a great conversation piece of its time, and it looks to be sadly long discontinued and fetching a pretty penny these days. Oh well.

Since yesterday, I am registered here... I am really excited to be here and have already received so many lovely welcome messages and greetings... thank you so much for that :)
So, my first comment... by the way, I have been reading all your wonderful comments, scent evaluations, and reviews for months and I just feel at home among my kind (also all perfume crazy ;) yes, it should only stay at 15 in the collection haha) and accordingly comfortable... I just wanted to say that!
Tropical Punch by Escada: Yes, it was my absolute dream summer scent in 2001... that's how I felt back then... light, carefree, happy... during the semester break, spending time with friends doing sports (um, yes, I should really get back to that), we were out in beer gardens and generally out and about celebrating... yes, and during that time, the scent accompanied me... I can't really say how the top, heart, and base notes smelled or how they were present on me... I have it (probably idealized over the years a bit) as wonderfully fruity, sweet but also with a certain freshness in memory... yes, all the listed fruits etc., that are mentioned, were definitely noticeable...

...so actually a summer scent (but it has to be really hot and preferably for more than just 5 days in a row... does that still exist in Germany nowadays? A little provocative side question ;) like from my dreams... wonderfully exotic!
I can still remember how often I was asked about it... hmm you smell so good, what is that? Hmmm delicious, what scent is that... etc. went down like oil ;)
I really felt delicious and fragrant... and oh yes... I could still smell good after hours, not just others smelling me... that's important to me, right?! And: I believe there wasn't a great development, it basically remained relatively the same as it was, well the whole fruity sweetness faded a bit over the hours, but gradually... more in the background... a dream... for me... back then...

However, my best friend at the time also thought this scent was great...

I must say, I find it admirable how many here write that they have inspired their friends to buy the same perfume, etc. I also wish it for everyone when I like a perfume... well, NOT EVERYONE ;) but I don’t want to smell the same as the person/people who are often around me, I find that kind of silly!)
And now I am writing my fingers sore here and this fruit cocktail is no longer available... what a shame..... I have now ordered some other fruity scents.... let's see if any of them can come close to my summer scent from back then..... that would be great!

By the way: All other seasonal Escada summer scents, in my opinion, did not come close to Tropical Punch...

Escada's summer fragrances are a topic I like to sweep under the rug... but there were 2 in the history of these "creations" that I still liked. Number 1 was Summer in Provence and Number 2 was the tropical punch. What fascinated me about the latter, which has long been off the market and thus almost a treasure on the internet? Thanks to a super nice perfumer, I was able to refresh my memory and now own a bit of it again. Merci, Mari :-*...
It is not super fruity and sticky sweet like most of its counterparts. It has a slightly fruity, alcoholic, dark soul! I find it almost melancholic. Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint which of the many exotic fruit notes is responsible for this; it’s probably the interplay of all of them. But a pear-like top note (there's no pear in it!) makes way for an orchid-like, slightly woody-green alcohol note with a shimmering fruit aroma. It really smells refreshing like an expensive cocktail without cream.
I could just dive into it...

This is or rather was the seasonal fragrance of 2001.
As far as I know, it is no longer in production. The ingredient list
reads as always very fruity and adventurous.
It smells accordingly and thus fits seamlessly into the sequence
of Escada's annual seasonal fragrances. That pretty much
sums it up. It smells very fruity. Period.
