Genre defining, elegant and approachable: one of the best designers of all times
There’s something timeless and classic about Terre d'Hermes that makes it one of my favorite formal/business fragrances - and it’s earned its place as one of my most worn in 2024.
Right from the first spritz, you’re greeted with its signature dry citrus opening, where bitter orange and grapefruit mingle beautifully with a touch of earthy spice. It’s like walking through an orange grove under a cloudless sky, with the crisp air carrying hints of mineral warmth. Formulating a dry citrus that is actually distinctive is not an easy accomplishment... and this feels like it.
As it settles, the fragrance evolves into a woody bonanza, with vetiver, cedar, and flint taking center stage.
Despite being an Eau de Toilette, its performance is above average. It lasts well into the day and projects just enough to leave an impression without overwhelming.
One of the things I love most is how airy this version feels compared to the Parfum. The Parfum may lean heavier and richer, but the EDT has an open, breezy quality that makes it more versatile and balanced.
Whether I’m suiting up for a business meeting or attending an event, Terre d’Hermes is a reliable finishing touch that ties everything together. The scent is elegant yet approachable, and as a true perfumery classic it is a worthy addition to any collection.
Genre defining, still talked about 20 years after its release... so it deserves a 10 out of 10 for its scent.
