Bright, different, fresh and golden.

I have never had so many “compliments” as the days I used Soleil de Jeddah. By the end of the afternoon I received compliments on the scent I had been using since the morning.
Flowers and fruits mix around combining acidic fruits with leather and smoky earth. At the same time complex and strong.
It has a bright and fresh start. A kaleidoscope in constant change of chords.
There is also a spicy flavor that is fresh and sweet.
There is a pleasant prominence of chamomile and the fruity and velvety touch of Osmanthus.
The leather base is dark, thick and lightly smoky, with dry woody nuances, and softens with amber and vanilla.
An unusual combination of notes, especially if we consider it as a whole. Bright, different, fresh and golden.
Summer in a bottle. A rural hillside dotted with yellow and wild flowers with some lilies peeking out from a valley where a stream lined with lemon trees runs at the bottom.
Many birds sing in tune, accompanying a dance of butterflies with colors that no longer exist.
Joy, serenity and well-being are present.

A sweet but dirty flower

Let me begin with saying that this is the first fragrance I encountered that features camomile. The camomile in here is very realistic, but more like you would pluck it out of the ground with a lot of earth on it, you smash that gentle camomile flower in your earth dirty hand and smell it. Off putting? Maybe, if you like your fragrance to be simple and not challenging at all. In my opinion it's amazing. Reminds me of my childhood. In the dry down the vanilla and leather become more and more prominent and you are left with a lovely concoction that is classy and sexy at the same time. Totally unisex. Longevity and silage on the skin above avarage, 10+hours.

pale, parched apparition

The last-gasp sour and tang of sun-shriveled citrus, fusty desiccated green herbs and mummified mosses, ashy, arid leather, and the most spectral iris wilting in a disappearing patch of shade whose earthy roots are already giving up the ghost, crumbling away in the sandy dirt. The radiant aurora of an eclipse made pale, parched apparition via a scratched and dusty lens.

This slightly animalic earthy floral leather fragrance welcomes you with delicate notes of chamomile bathed in fresh, sparkling Italian citrus.
They are followed by the oriental spirit of amber intertwined with an earthy accord with the sweetness of osmanthus and a buttery floral aroma of iris.
The rawhide intensifies the experience and blends with sweet vanilla.

Simply Amazing

Fragrance has been a daily part of my life for roughly 32-33 of my 44 years. If I am to be honest I can only recall a few times where I smelled a fragrance and didn’t find something to enjoy about it. As such, the list of fragrances I enjoy is nearly endless. Far too often, I spray something and think “my gosh I’ve missed this!”

Then there are those that hit me so powerfully, I find myself wishing I could stop time and swim in the scent for an eternity. Oddly enough, it’s a similar feeling to when you meet someone and life gets fun and exciting even if you’re just quietly taking into the early morning hours and find yourself wishing you could stop time and spend an eternity with that person in the moment that hits you on an ethereal level. I don’t know what it is about those fragrances that seem to hit on pleasure centers of the brain, but this is one of those. When I smell it, and spray it on my skin, while there are perhaps dozens that hit me this strongly, I can’t help but think “I need to get rid of all my other fragrances and just stock up on this one and wear this forevermore.” That can’t possibly happen because there are those others that hit me just as potently… but wow is this a masterpiece. This is special and in my humble opinion, is in a short list of fragrances that have altered my perception of what fragrance is and can be.

Right off the bat with spraying, the way the lemon, chamomile, and osmanthus hit with an almost tropical citrusy apricot almost slight mango scent is absolutely mouth watering. When it starts to dry and the mid amber, earthy and orris notes come into play it gives it this depth and I’m guessing it must be the iris that gives it, to my nose, this sort of buttery smoothness. Despite being so entrenched in the world of scent, at times it still shocks me that scent can have perceptual qualities of texture. As it unfolds to the base and the orris root is joined by orris butter, that smooth texture seems to smooth out and get even more silky while it gets a tad deeper with the vanilla and leather revealing themselves. I could sit in silence for hours just periodically smelling my wrist after spraying this. In some odd way, though very familiar with this, it still always shocks me at how pleasing it is. I can smell my wrist, wait 2 minutes, smell it again and the level of pleasing shock never wanes.

This, to me, is right down the middle unisex. It’s just simply intoxicating. It doesn’t smell “feminine” nor “masculine” to me. It just smells simply amazing and anyone, in my opinion, could pull this off. If I smelled this on another dude, I’d ask what it is. If I smelled this on a woman, I’d be immediately intoxicated. If I walked into a place, a physical space, and smelled this in the air, I may never want to leave. This is truly remarkable, an utterly mind blowing masterpiece. Stephan Humbert Lucas is an ingenious perfumer in my opinion. I also have Mortal Skin, Wish Come True, Taklamakan, and Generation Man and if I were ever desirous of expanding my collection, selling some of my current collection off to buy more, or make some trades, Stephan’s collection is one of the only fragrance collections I’m so enraptured by that I’d want to dive deeper into.

Highly recommend this fragrance for anyone and honestly feel this can be worn any time, any place. For me, with this one there are no rules. It’s simply transcendent. It would work marvelously for formal events, right on down to grocery shopping in sweats. An all purpose, unique, stunner of a fragrance. Bravo, Stephan, bravo!
