Delicious chocolate

Sand Dance is very similar to reserve privée, but with a beautifully blended smooth chocolate. Even better. It instantly became one of my favorite perfumes.
It has a long longevity, although it became weaker after slightly over 5 hours on my wrist, that's pretty good. Can still smell it faintly after 25 hours.

Something Unique

This was a blind buy for me. It’s rare that something catches me off guard as to how unique it is. This is one of those fragrances that just makes you feel warm and cozy. It opens up with this excellent boozy warm spicy accord. Not too far after the open, you get introduced to this insanely realistic chocolate note. No, I’m not talking sugary Hershey’s bar type of chocolate. I’m talking a dry, realistic type of chocolate. It hides in the back and adds just the right amount of nuance. On dry down, it develops into this really gorgeous warm vanilla that lingers until it becomes a skin scent. Pretty good longevity and it was projecting pretty hard the first few hours with 4 sprays. I feel like this is a pretty strong unisex fragrance. My only gripe about SHL so far is how the caps aren’t metal. I’m paying in the $200 range for a 50ml, so I’d expect a quality metal cap.

Succulent chocolate brownie

Where should I start, so Sand Dance opens with a nice liqueur note at the first spray, seconds later you get the cocoa which smells a bit drier As the fragrance progresses, however, it becomes creamier and juicier again, like a nice brownie drizzled with chocolate liqueur.
A nice gourmand, but for me it would be even nicer without the liqueur note.
I would test it beforehand, not a blind buy candidate in my opinion.

A glass of whiskey with a chocolatey, yet dry sandstorm...

I had bought the hype around SHL at the beginning with the God of Fire, which was actually quite alright, but somehow also very synthetic. Unfortunately, the same was true of Venom Incarnat. But what about Sand Dance?
Let's get into it:

- At the beginning you get a - from my point of view - unfortunately synthetic smelling ... hmm... yes, a whiskey-like note... but it also has a good portion of slightly green spice from the coriander. Unfortunately, the mandarin is a little underwhelming and I would have liked it to be a little more present, as it has an alcoholic, but somehow also dry-tart effect.

- After that, cocoa and vanilla enter the fray, and yes, the cocoa is almost boisterous, making you feel like you're in a chocolate factory. Not an ordinary chocolate factory, this one produces rather dry, rough chocolate or hmmm... maybe chocolate powder after all.

- As it progresses, I then pick up a nice sandalwood note that gives the fragrance a bit of warmth and a creamy texture, but the tonka together with other accords makes the fragrance end up as a chocolate brownie; even though I cannot deny that this dry character together with this resinousness in the drydown still "save" the fragrance minimally, the fragrance would unfortunately not make it into my collection.

... yes, it's a beautiful, exciting fragrance, but it also seems a bit too synthetic and despite the exciting, dry texture, I unfortunately don't warm to it.

Anyhow, I think the fragrance is far more exciting than many other fragrances and that's why I'm sure it will find a following.

PS: As is typical for SHL, the performance is okay and above average...

Sweet-ambery-boozy open is followed by vibes of Kilian's Black Phantom, dries sweet-woody (Amber Star, Mystic Experience). Fall-winter.

This is my favorite fragrance and signature scent. A person who enjoys gourmand fragrances could only dream of this until 2022. Chocolatey boozy woody
