From Herod to Hercules

I own Herod by Parfums de Marly, a fragrance that I love especially in fall and winter. Warm, sweet, spicy, classy. Unfortunately, my bottle is slowly coming to an end and I wanted to get some more in time. But while browsing, I happened to come across a fragrance that was completely unknown to me until then: Hercules. Brutal reviews, euphoric YouTube videos and all for less than 20 euros? I thought to myself: no risk, no story. Ordered it.

And then came the surprise: wow.
The fragrance is simply amazing. When you spray it for the first time, you immediately recognize the Herod DNA. This spicy, warm tobacco note paired with soft, sweet accents. Sure, it's not quite as sweet and finely tuned as Herod, a little lighter and less opulent. But it is almost more pleasant to wear in everyday life.

The longevity? Strong. The sillage? Absolutely present, but never too much.
For this price? Incredible.

A real insider tip. Anyone who knows and loves Herod will find a worthy alternative with its own character here. For me, quite clearly: blind buy of the decade.

Herod-cules - the secret demigod in the fragrance Olympus

Hercules is a real hidden gem: warm, spicy, velvety-sweet and surprisingly high-quality. I bought this beautiful piece for €13 during the week's special offer.

The very first spray catapulted me into the familiar world of Herod, except that Hercules presents the whole thing a little more raw and at the same time more suitable for everyday use. A spicy, warm tobacco note
meets creamy vanilla, softly cushioned by cinnamon, pepper and a hint of eastern manthus (fruity, floral, a hint of leather). The combination is less sugary and not quite as opulent as the original, but more airy and therefore even more pleasant to wear, especially in the office or on relaxed weekend days.

After about 10 minutes, the fragrance becomes really cozy: sweet vanilla meets warm tobacco, there is a hint of smoke in the air. Everything remains soft, never heavy.

Longevity? Easily 8 hours with a projection that is clearly perceptible in the first 2 to 3 hours, but never intrusive. After that, a pleasant "fragrance bubble" remains on your skin.

But the most glaring point is really the price, with a lucky €13 but otherwise €20 an absolute no-brainer. For just two movie tickets, you get a halfway decent-looking bottle and a fragrance DNA that you would otherwise pay many times more for.

A real Herod-cules - a secret demigod in the fragrance Olympus that breaks price-performance chains and amazes even spoiled niche noses.

i'm having a masculine day and want a fragrance that does just that, makes me a real guy and this fragrance is just right for me. So I put on my suit and put on this fragrance. As I leave the house, two ladies walk past me and smell and look after me.

When you apply this fragrance, the first thing you notice is cinnamon and pepper. This is followed by something spicy and smoky. The vanilla gives it its aroma with something woody. The musk makes this perfume powdery and the vetiver makes it dry and slightly dark. It has a strong masculine note.

The longevity and silage is good.

Here we have a gentleman's fragrance that is mature and wearable from the mid-twenties onwards. I can't imagine it for younger men, just as I can't imagine it for women. It is a fragrance that can be worn all year round, until perhaps the really hot days. It can be worn in the office, when shopping or in your free time as well as in the evening at a dinner, in a bar or even a club.

Anyone who likes to wear a woody, spicy, smoky, powdery, dry, masculine fragrance is in good hands here for little money.

The best of the PdM dupes from Alhambra

Today I'm holding a bottle of Herod in one hand and the full bottle of Hercules in the other. To be honest, I'm surprised to be able to make a direct comparison and realize that the Maison Alhambra is so much stronger.

The Hercules projects very strongly and has a wonderful cinnamony, creamy and vanilla note. This is rather static and does not change so much over the course of the fragrance, but remains absolutely consistent in its intensity. Somehow, a note of cherry creeps through again and again, which I find very pleasant but also restrained. Gorgeous! I love this fragrance.

I perceive the Herod as rather weak. However, the fragrance notes are very similar, but much softer.

How did Maison Alhambra do it? I have no idea. But the fragrance rocks. Absolutely blind-buy safe.

Next to Cassius, really the best of the horse series.

One tobacco to take away please

Do you perhaps know those scented vanilla cigarillos that you can buy? This direction actually describes it quite well. A strong spicy tobacco note that hits you right at the beginning. There is also a noticeable sweetness that could be a little less for my taste. Nevertheless, it is a great fragrance that knows how to convince. The course is relatively constant without many highs and lows. However, this is not a bad thing as the scent doesn't come across as cheap or monotonous.

Leisure, work or evening event, it fits. The H|S were slightly above average for me, but perhaps it needs a little more time to develop even more.

Conclusion: A great fragrance, at a great price. Recommendation for anyone looking for a sweet tobacco fragrance for little money.
