Although I am (so far) still quite alone among the hymns of praise from the new account holders and the few reviewers, it must be clearly stated: Petra is Herbert Stricker's weakest release to date. I sincerely hope that something went wrong with the production, because I can't imagine that such an immature and short-breathed fragrance could have emerged from Nose Behinds. This was not the case with any of the 11 other TNBs I tested.
One after the other:
With
Petra, I have now also been able to test the latest creation from Herbert Stricker. After the Alpine flower (
Fleur Alpine ), there is now a homage or rather an olfactory travelogue to the ancient rock city and one of the new seven wonders of the world -> Petra , in Jordan.
The test: Freshly washed out of the shower with 4 sprays on the upper arm.
After spraying:
Dark (bitter) chocolate with a floral note and slight sweetness. About five minutes later, mint slowly joins in from the background.
The fragrance has hardly any charisma or presence. I had already sensed this during my first test on the strip ...
After 15 minutes:
Chocolate becomes a little less, but the mint comes through more. Slight sweetness still perceptible, I like to blame it on the coconut or the incense? A certain "floral veil" rounds off the fragrance after 15 minutes.
After 45 minutes:
Chocolate is gone. Mint is now in the foreground with the flower. It is rounded off by a more vanilla-like sweetness. The incense is barely perceptible and will be part of the "sweet mixture". No 'smoky' incense. Nothing sacred, nothing dominant.
1.5h:
Slight incense sweetness with very restrained, non-intense mint spice in the background. The florality (=magnolia!?) is still there. Sillage almost completely gone. I can already imagine with a weeping eye that I'll be able to spray it again in 3 hours at the latest - it won't "last long" here ...
2.5 hours:
Petra has degraded immensely in the last 60 minutes. Immense!
The scent is just a light, sweet breeze. For me, 90% of the spectacle is already over here. I seriously wonder if something has gone wrong here. I'm not used to such a lousy performance from The Nose Behind fragrance house, on the contrary.
After 4 hours:
Finito. Out with the mouse.
Either you spray again to get through the second half of the working day or you opt for a different, stronger fragrance.

Conclusion:
After
Silk! Oud is the worst olfactory release,
Petra is the weakest fragrance in front of me right now.
Herbert is known for his special, sometimes even experimental fragrances. The Nose Behind in particular is not aimed at the mass market - the fragrances have to appeal to Herbert above all and be souvenirs of his experiences. This is extremely commendable and is a great attitude.
The fragrance as it is now (namely not very exciting, very generic and with no power) does not carry the "Nose Behind" DNA for me. I rather assume that something is/was out of round in the production of the first batch. It's now like "50% finished" only.
Definitely (!) not a blind buy and a recommendation for it in its current form.
