The "Green" that Comes from the Flowers.

That the brand 4711 has been on the fragrance market for nearly 300 years is astonishing. However, considering that their "original substance," the Blue-Gold Cologne, is as world-famous as Chanel's N° 5, this puts it into perspective. Moreover, they always come up with something new and beautiful that hardly falls short.
In this "Jasmine variant," I can also clearly recognize the main ingredient of the ancient classic, Neroli. Very much to its advantage. Because Jasmine alone would probably be a bit too indolic and overwhelming. Especially the "green" facets of this universal flower come through well alongside the teen notes. And I think the above fragrance pyramid is also not quite complete. The spicy-resinous-woody notes are "missing," which I can smell quite distinctly.
A sandalwood trail, not even that subtle. And definitely a bit of thyme. Going towards lemony-green - spicy. As harmless as it may seem at first glance, it is not at all. There is an intriguing sophistication behind it, allowing wonderful green to sprout from flowers :-))

The Day at the Sea

I feel a little guilty. Because I should actually be in the grocery section at Müller.

But there they are - all versions of the 4711 line. I actually wanted to try the scent with lemon. But of all things, there’s no tester available for that one. So I test the white one from the line - without prior knowledge, without bias, and without complete scent expectations, like with fragrances that have been on your wishlist for a long time.

Jasmine. Do I smell jasmine right at the beginning? The answer is yes. As a long-time jasmine fan, I can say that it’s true: jasmine has an enormously relaxing effect. I’ve even read that the scent of jasmine relaxes us so much that our neurotransmitters in the brain function better and release hormones like endorphins and enkephalins, and this works a bit like Valium by regulating our amygdala through reducing stress and pain.

But I also associate jasmine with the sea. Like a jasmine tree by the sea. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I spent some summers by the sea in my childhood. And there it stood. In full bloom. Facing the sun. With a scent that only a child can absorb.

But when I open my eyes again, I’m still in Müller. When I smell my sleeve and the test strip again, it has taken on a clean note.

Like fresh laundry. But not Persil, Spee, or Ariel or whatever they’re all called. More like white cotton bed sheets that have just been hung up. Slightly powdery and as if you want to bury your nose in them. It reminds me of the original version of White Linen - clean, soft, and infinitely beautiful. A little bit like Cotton from the Splash line by Marc Jacobs. It’s so beautiful, I would almost classify it as unisex.

The sillage is ultimately only close to the skin, but it’s worth it.

Even though the scent doesn’t last all day, but has the longevity of a cologne, it is still as beautiful as the scent of freshly washed laundry on a day at the sea.
