As good as the Perfume, slightly darker and deeper
War and Peace Part III, Attar.

As for the Attar, I find it to go straight to the meat and potatoes while cutting out the powdery blast, the diffusive smokiness, and toning down the rose. It feels like the perfume after 2 hours or so: leathery, smoky, resinous, and musky. Less diffusive, powdery, and floral. It sits closer to the skin, so I would wear it when I wouldn’t want to get much attention while still able to enjoy it for myself, or at home as a personal scent. If you don’t like the powdery aspects or the rose in the extrait or want a richer scent while not stressing over the more intimate scent bubble, I’d go for the attar. Personally, I love both.

A vintage attar that conjures the raw power and mystery of early civilizations
War and Peace - isn't just a Fragrance/Attar but it's a remarkable scent that will send you back to the era of Iron Age.

War and Peace opens with a warm funky/barny smoke like a hit of gun powder (it smells like actual gun powder that my Dad always use for his local hunting gun, which I am well familiar with, and this reminds me of my childhood with my Dad), charred wood (like a wood burning stove), and flint (like a hard grey rock).

After like 40 minutes to an hour, it unfolds into the heart of floral notes (Roses) with a touch of animalic civet and orris butter, whilst the patchouli added earthiness. The base really showcases itself; it evokes a damp forest soil swirl with a metallic whisper of forged iron and a subtle warmth of resins and amber.

The drydown is resinous, ashy, mossy, and musky - while animalic civet also added depth to the animalic character but softened by bright floral. l also perceived dry hay, which is coming from vetiver, the castoreum didn't give up either.

The only note that suffered here is the ambergris, as it never had the chance to showcase itself up like other notes in the base ( it took the back seat and isn't extremely strong). Although it did a very good job by playing a supportive role, adding freshness & animalic facets to the composition.

This scent is overwhelming and ridiculously beautiful. The longevity is mind-blowing on the skin.
I have never tried the OG, but this one right here is wild,  and rugged. This gives the feeling of the Iron Age!

War and Peace is sometimes very CLOSE together... / My honest opinion
Hello everyone,

Today I would like to say something about the mentioned fragrance - the War and Peace III Attar.

Preface:

I am a fan of many scents from ALD; they are sometimes edgier, more creative than those of other brands and at a (relatively) attractive price (RRP yes, not necessarily here!).

I have known the two other spray versions, War and Peace and War and Peace II, since almost the very beginning, but a real "LOVE" only developed in 2024.

So late..., yes unfortunately!

Before that, it was too edgy for me, too powerful, and generally too much. Perhaps it changed through my many EOs or the "maturation" of ALD..., who knows, or I just wasn't ready yet - that's possible too.

The last 1 - 2 years were, let's say, so-so. They were okay, but no BANGERS where it was worth putting down some "MONEY" - it's all just a purely personal OPINION! The Cuirtis was, in my opinion, the last really good one, and after that... it got tricky.

Now I have once again looked at the current releases with great enthusiasm and yes, I tested them all (I’m talking about the 4 current Attars)... The others are good, really good, and certain lovers of the ORIGINAL FORMULA (!) will probably feel a certain joy in that regard.

But let's talk exclusively about War and Peace III Attar
_____________
About the scent:

It has become "finally" more mass-appealing and that as an Attar!

More mass-appealing?

YES, unfortunately both spray versions were too much, too intense, too harsh, too loud for the general public. I don't perceive it as so extreme, but a nose that is used to EOs and the like perceives it differently than almost everyone else you know / people who are not in our bubble (so to speak)!

The War and Peace III Attar is very similar to the two in terms of composition and structure: resinous, leathery, earthy, oudy, animalic musk, a bit rosy - these are the perceivable main players, and typically for the concentration, the longevity has been "somewhat" increased while the previously insane sillage has been significantly reduced.

For that, I am veeeeery grateful!

Why?

Now I can wear this scent primarily for myself without disturbing other people when I wear it. Now I can wear it without problems in places like work, at birthdays, at other celebrations, in my free time, and even on the plane. This was not even remotely possible with the old spray version.

(YES, one can rise above it and definitely do so, but it is still somewhat annoying when you are negatively addressed about the scent you are wearing, which you may even love, because such things can quickly ruin the scent and that feeling for you, and it definitely shouldn't be like that in my opinion!)

Can I recommend it?

Absolutely!

Please test it, because it is damn good and in my opinion clearly (!) the best Attar from ALD in recent years.

Price-wise, I find it ultra poor to evaluate such things, as the offered products from EO are basically in the ULTRA - High-end - Niche - Artisan - Luxury - League, and therefore I find it incredibly poor and actually wrong to say such things. Yes, there are perfumes and oils with prices that some cars cost..., but everyone has to decide for themselves whether that is WORTH it to them or not - that's how I see the issue!

BUT,
I am completely honest! The almost €160 for the Attar I consider almost cheap in relation to the quality! If I had smelled it and no price had been mentioned, I would have paid €300 (EO prices) for it because I find it that usable.

Sometimes you just have to take different paths...

And now have a nice day/evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny

Successful Remake
First :-p

The gift box with the attars arrived today. I'm already daring to write a review. I find War and Peace 3 as an attar actually more rounded than War and Peace 2.

I initially had concerns about the Indian oud, but what can I say, it doesn't stand out negatively and it also doesn't have that specific hay-cow stable note with rotten wood, as I've experienced with other fragrances that have too much of that note.

The civet also rounds the whole thing off nicely and somehow it has an alcoholic note for me.

A well-rounded affair, I will definitely keep this attar, for me it's the better War and Peace.

More peace than war. Animalic is present throughout, but in my opinion, it becomes almost powdery over time. Beautiful!
