Small Town Idyl, Sunday Peace, and Tupper Parties
Prologue:
Today I want to tell you about a fragrance that has been in my possession for a while, specifically since 28.05.2018 according to Parfumo.
I am currently in the process of reorganizing my huge perfume cabinet, and here's how it came about:
When we moved into the apartment, I was overjoyed when I opened the built-in wardrobe in "my" room and found the most beautiful perfume cabinet I could ever imagine: large and small wooden drawers to pull out, where I could arrange my perfume collection like a tray and enjoy it. Until now, I hadn't given much thought to the sorting and stuck with the tried-and-true method of sorting by brand A-Z. However, after some time (and I must have rearranged it about 5 times in between...) this proved to be quite impractical. While you could quickly find the brands you were looking for, the sorting was simply terrible when it came to getting inspired in the morning about which fragrance to wear.
Since I don't just want to collect for the sake of collecting, but also want to wear and showcase my treasures, I came up with a classification into 6 categories.
Category 1: Fragrances I love
Category 2: Fragrances I wear regularly
Category 3: Fragrances I wear occasionally
Category 4: Fragrances that are emotionally charged
Category 5: Fragrances I like to recommend
Category 6: Fragrances I don't like
About 6 months ago, I started reorganizing my perfume cabinet according to this classification and I must say that I already like it much better now, as I can see all my beloved fragrances at a glance.
However, the largest share at the moment consists of fragrances for which I have not yet fully decided which category they belong to, like Eve - Elegance Eau de Parfum, which I want to wear and then categorize with you today.
When my perfume hobby picked up again about 7 years ago, I went through a phase where I wanted to test as much as possible as quickly as possible, so I acquired this bottle. Those who know me know that I 1. have a preference for affordable brands (especially Yves Rocher) and 2. all my fragrances/samples/miniatures are immortalized in an Excel sheet, from which the following entry comes:
First impression:
“fresh, I know it from somewhere, not bad”
Really, that was all I had to say about the fragrance so far? I feel a bit ashamed to post it like this, but for the sake of completeness...
Today's impression / fragrance development:
Upon spraying, the first fresh impression is confirmed, but there is more: bright fruity floral notes, a simultaneously sweet freshness that I also perceive in Lancome Idole, spring feelings. It is a friendly fragrance, completely without shadows, pastel-colored. In the background, I think I detect a synthetic, slightly rubbery note, which you only notice when you smell very closely to the sprayed skin (thankfully it has faded after 30 minutes). Fabric softener vibes.
From perfumer Harry Frémont, I have smelled other similarly spring-fresh fragrances: Lismore, Flower Princess, CK One Eau de Toilette, all beautiful fragrances, but I lack a personal connection to them, just like with Eve - Elegance. Yes, it smells good, unobtrusive, pleasing, and wearable, but it does not touch me in any way and is too tame and pure for me, a wallflower.
Over time, the fruity notes transform into a honey-like floral bouquet. A neat, tightly bound bouquet in powder pink and white with a lace paper wrap, where no little flower can or wants to stand out.
And finally, I realize how the fragrance smells: American! It does not go in the overly sweet Victoria’s Secret-Hollister body spray direction. Instead, it fits the series Desperate Housewives, but without the intrigue: small town idyl, Sunday peace, and Tupper parties.
I am a bit surprised by the year of release; I would have placed it in the 2000s.
Longevity:
For a fresh-floral fragrance, it lasts well on my skin: about 5 hours.
Bottle:
Even though this is an affordable fragrance, the bottle has a simple but by no means cheap appearance: diamond-shaped, transparent glass, although the cap is made of plastic and a bit loose, the sprayer works perfectly. I did not have an outer box for this.
Conclusion:
I could confidently recommend this fragrance to anyone looking for a fresh floral fabric softener scent that smells American clean, without any surprises or dark twists.
However, when I feel like fresher fragrances, they can certainly show a bit more character, like Daisy Eau de Toilette or Idole, and thus this somewhat too pleasing and unfortunately a bit trivial fragrance lands in category 5.
Thank you for reading,
yours, Marie
