"Before I let myself be beaten..."
..that's what you always say when you assume something that's not so great right now. And that is exactly what Mesmerize red is. Together with Black Suede from AVON, Mesmerize Red was a blind purchase. I've already written a comment about Black Suede (you can only pour this stuff into a dead mule's ear), now it's time for Mesmerize Red (MR): The flacon looks noble, which is mainly due to the beautiful colour combination of red and gold. Only the spray button is a real eye whip! If the flacon still looks noble, AVON uses a super cheap looking spray button with a bright red (not the beautiful red of the flacon) plastic knob on top. That looks really sh... cheap! Who came up with the idea to spoil the harmonious appearance of the flacon in this way is a real mystery to me. I don't buy myself a Ferrari just like that and put simple steel rims on it -tz tz tz, there are things that you hardly believe!
I digress, what does MR smell like? The beginning is overshadowed by slightly leathery notes. Not unpleasant, but also nothing unusual. After a short time it becomes more earthy or woody. That is at least quite wearable, but doesn't necessarily knock you off your feet. MR is certainly not as bad as Black Suede, but as far as the durability of the fragrance is concerned, this is yet another leap into the workspace of the colleagues at Villeroy & Boch! After 2 hours everything is gone, which I think is a rather meagre performance. Ok, the price for MR is not that high, but still you can expect a little more. As I said, the scent in and of itself is ok and you don't do anything wrong if you like leather / wood, but there are much better alternatives!
