He was big! Not to say one of the greatest fashion designers and couturiers of his time. Cristobal Balenciaga is still considered to be the guardian of elegance among his peers. Even Coco Chanel appreciated him as the only true couturier. What a big compliment! Among his most famous clients were Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Ava Garner and Jackie Kennedy. All his creations distinguished noblesse, grace and style. Flawless cut in highest perfection. In 1962, Cristobal Balenciaga turned for the first time to men with a perfume. Eau de Balenciaga for Men was born. It is his first men's fragrance well before Ho Hang which appeared under his name. If one looks at pictures and photos of the then still young Balenciaga and compares them with Eau de Balenciaga for Men as a perfume, one quickly realizes that he had most probably designed this fragrance for himself. Eau de Balenciaga for Men deeply reflects his charismatic personality!
The fragrance
Eau de Balenciaga for Men Is a warm and very sensual herrenchypre. Nothing is harsh, pungent or bitter about these creations. Spicy rosemary and soft tones of light lavender introduce the fragrance. A pleasant coolness spreads out, gently underlaid with citric bitter orange. The fragrance changes colour relatively quickly and becomes spicier. Carnation is very well perceptible. Green and gently herbaceous notes are added by rose geranium and green spicy fern. And then she already breaks through, this incredibly beautiful soft warmth in Eau de Balenciaga for Men. A dark green, warm moss chord leads into the base of the fragrance. Underlaid with soft amber and smoky tender vetiver they played around a very fine Tonka note which makes this fragrance appear so stylish and sensual. Deepest elegance!

Cristobal Balenciaga was a very reserved person, who attracted attention by his noblesse and personality alone. That's his perfume, too. At no time obtrusive as far as the Sillage is concerned. The shelf life corresponds to a very charming and long evening. Eau de Balenciaga for Men is very soft in its aura and it carries the unbelievable sensuality in itself that characterizes all his works. Including himself!
To get this already very old scent is not very easy. He who possesses it should consider himself very fortunate. Eau de Balenciaga for Men is as good as extinct. I was more than lucky to get it. It's still the first edition in the very first box I got. But if you don't get it any more, I can recommend a very old, more present and richer twin of him, ....Hasu-no-Hana!
