Pure Surprise
They still exist: the full-bodied drugstore fragrances, although new, yet not just any water!
First off: I'm getting this, I just tested it on sale at Rossmann.
For mainstream, this is a knockout, hats off, reminiscent of Dior, if it weren't for the name Betty on the bottle.

Let's set aside the top note, which has little say here:
it's a sea of blossoms, warm and golden, just like the color of the bottle.
A sea full of Ylang-Ylang with a touch of vanilla, bright sandalwood, and a splash, really just a tiny: mandarin.
The perfume is warm, powdery, and incredibly long-lasting.

When I just received the hint about a new Chic fragrance, I wondered which "chic" scent was meant.

Chic No 30 by Sheik of Arabia, Chic by Herrera, or Chic by dear Betty?

Although there are vast price differences between these fragrances, I cherish and value all three.
All three are characterized by casual chic.
I am not a snob, and I don't buy a fragrance just because of its high price to then indulge in elegies.
If I like it, then sure - but I prefer good, affordable scents.

And the Barclay Chic belongs to this category.
With it, you are always well-dressed without feeling "dressed up."
That's just not my thing.

Bergamot and blackcurrant provide a fresh-fruity opening that remains subtle.
Chic becomes beautifully soft with magnolia and rose.
The heliotrope adds a shimmering and casually elegant touch, while vanilla and sandalwood wrap around the skin in a buttery soft and creamy way.

Very feminine - and with the amount of chic that is well wearable for me.

I have also successfully gifted this attractive Betty.
Especially pleasing is the fair price and the good longevity.

I hope I can still repurchase this lovely scent.

Double Betty-Lottchen. Part 1: The Chic Betty
First of all: The two "Bettys" CHIC and BEAUTIFUL are remarkably similar. Hence the title. Anyone familiar with BEAUTIFUL can already form an image based on the title and the preamble. For those who are not familiar, they will just have to bite the bullet and read the entire comment.

The chic Betty doesn't start with mandarin and bergamot at all. She skips those and gets right to the warm stuff. Only the black currant joins in at the beginning, but soon hides behind the warm-sweet notes. Why only?? It would have been so nice!

In the heart note, a similar sad story: Magnolia and rose send Ylang-Ylang ahead and do not participate.

In the base (well? well?) again only one volunteer: Vanilla!

All in all, the warm components overwhelm all others and make the chic Betty a very, very warm sister. One would have hoped for a bit more balance and excitement. Compared to the BEAUTIFUL soup, CHIC is only "more elegant" and less sweet in the top note; as time goes on, the two ladies become as alike as two peas in a pod (I conducted a... um... 2-wrist parallel test and after about 1.5 hours of wear, I couldn't detect any difference between the two scents).

Nevertheless, CHIC could be interesting for fans of cozy fragrances. There are certainly better scents, BUT ALSO SOME THAT ARE SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE.

For me, this warm-warm puff scent stuff is not for me. I would have to be on the verge of freezing to want to envelop myself in something like this.

Chic
An amazing fragrance from Betty Barclay.

Chic, chic, that's all I can say.

After the citrus-fruity opening, the scent becomes warm and cozy. Underlined with a delicate spicy note. The floral notes complement it very subtly, without pushing themselves to the forefront.
It smells elegant and powdery.

I tested the EdT in the drugstore. Unfortunately, some time has passed since then, so this is just a brief review.

I think it would flatter any woman. I also like the elegant bottle, which matches the beautiful fragrance.

Rainy Days - Mood Enhancer......
......Like a warm shower after getting caught in the rain. Normally, I'm not a big fan of drugstore fragrances, but there are exceptions, particularly when scents are well-made, long-lasting, and do not smell "cheap" or even synthetic. Among the few other perfumes that meet these criteria for me (Tosca, Noncelance), "Chic" by Betty Barklay also stands out. It comes across as pleasantly warm with heliotrope and vanilla, with a fine hint of sandalwood. With a warm, sunny, and floral heart and a bright citrus-fruity opening. Especially on uncomfortable days with rain and wind, this fragrance can bring a touch of cozy warmth and reminds one of cheerful summer weather. But, as has been described many times, it is not to be compared with sunscreen. Rather, it feels like a gentle breeze carrying a hint of southern scents, or like a visit to a café where various aromas mingle. "Chic" may not have an exceptionally complex scent development, but it is, in itself, a refined representative of its kind. Longevity and sillage are quite good.

A floral scent, but not too sweet. It's powdery; where does that come from? H+S are in the middle. Smells different from many floral perfumes.

At the start, I surprisingly get violet leaf instead of the expected fruity freshness. As it develops, there's a slightly smoky, bitter-sweet powdered vanilla.
