Tender Blossom - pleasing and a bit too subtle
I recently tested Tender Blossom at the department store. The friendly saleswoman wanted to spray Precious - the new fragrance from Betty Barclay - on me as she passed by, but since I had already sniffed that one, she reached for Tender Blossom.

Tender Blossom is a fruity, fresh daytime fragrance for the warm season. It starts off with colorful fruits; I can smell melon and green apples, which, according to the pyramid, aren't actually used. Quickly, it becomes more floral, but the fruit basket continues to simmer happily. The fragrance fades quite quickly; musk and sandalwood add a bit of spice and warmth, and poof, the scent is gone.

Tender Blossom is a pleasing, green fragrance, friendly and bright, ideal for work and will not offend anyone, especially since its sillage is quite discreet and the longevity is more bad than good. However, for the very affordable price, you can easily reapply it multiple times. In conclusion: A delicate spring fragrance, at a moderate price, that is suitable for many occasions. Personally, it lacks a bit of "punch," but it doesn't deserve an overall rating of under 50%.

I Just Can't Smell You
...or at least not for long.

I really like Tender Blossom, I even like the bottle with the delicate bow. For me, it is a well-balanced fresh floral scent - not too soapy, not too sweet, and it doesn't drift into the aquatic. There's no fuss, it's quite straightforward and harmonious all around. There are no surprises in the scent development, which doesn't have to be a bad thing - at certain times, I enjoy exactly such fragrances.

One of those times is now, when it’s already pleasantly warm and sunny outside, but it still freezes at night and we keep getting uncomfortable rainy days. I like to choose my fragrances according to the weather, as the weather also influences my mood. My favorite season is winter, when it’s really icy outside and the air is so clear and cool. Then it’s my time - the gourmands are dug out of the cupboard, and vanilla, praline, cocoa, and the like take center stage. In summer, however, I can do without them, as too much sweetness gives me a headache.

But there’s also something in between - exactly this time right now. I don't quite know what I want - so I choose a fragrance that I can't go wrong with. Tender Blossom is the perfect candidate for that, as it smells delicate and girlish without being overwhelming. However, it has a significant drawback: on the skin, it lasts maybe an hour, on clothing a bit longer - but then the delightful scent experience is over. I find that so unfortunate! Now I've almost emptied the small bottle, which isn't a big feat when you can keep reapplying - I wouldn't buy it again. While I do like the perfume overall, it's just too weak for me.

Just like Nivea
In search of a floral scent, I tried Tender Blossom. The beginning is delicate like young spring with cyclamen and melon. Quickly, magnolia, freesia, and peony joined in. Everything remained very subtle. Sandalwood and cedar added just a hint of earthiness, but could not take away the delicacy. I did not smell any musk. For those who want a very soft floral scent like Nivea, this will certainly be a good choice. For me, it was a bit too delicate and girlish and did not convince me. It’s perfect for a confirmand or a young bride.

Smell the flowers while you can
At first sniff, "Tender Blossom" actually reminded me of "Eau d'Eden" by Cacharel, my first perfume love, which unfortunately no longer exists. The same hint of a thousand flowers, the same lightness. The scent is really nice. Summery, light, floral, fresh. I had the EdP, and it lasted a good 7 hours.
But it is nice. Just nice. It doesn't blow you away. That's not its job. It is certainly a very good summer companion. It is really quite subtle. I had hoped to encounter my first love again. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It was just the smile that was somewhat similar.
I had already picked my flowers back then, and there was unfortunately no going back. I simply gifted the scent to a colleague. She couldn't find it at Rossi anymore (oh, those special offers!) She was absolutely thrilled!
So it ended up in good hands. Perfumes should definitely be out in the open. They should be worn, bring joy to people, create and awaken memories! That was my word for Friday!

Delicate, Soft, and Floral-Fresh
If you, like me, love delicate and unobtrusive fragrances, you are well advised here. I have the EdT, which is slightly fruitier at the beginning compared to the EdP, which I have also had before. In hindsight, I actually find the EdT more beautiful than the EdP; it is fresher and more delicate. Certainly not a reinvention of the wheel, which I did not expect - and it is also not a question of price. Because even in the more expensive mainstream, the fragrances repeat themselves. Let's be honest: When was there really something different, new lately? Well? ;-)

TB starts off delicately fruity and quickly develops a wonderfully floral-fresh scent. Here I can really recognize white flowers, especially the freesia, but also a lot of cyclamen. Cyclamen always works well for me in fragrances. A little later, a fine woodiness comes into play. TB still smells floral-fresh, but also of light woods. Simply beautiful. By the way, it reminds me a bit of Laura Biagiotti's classic Laura. Ah, this makes even gray November days bearable.

Longevity is about 4 hours. I find the bottle beautiful, and the sillage is pleasantly restrained. I also find this Betty Barclay very successful. For me, the BBs stand out pleasantly in the drugstore segment. They are fragrances that (at least for me) actually fit well anytime and anywhere. Anyone who enjoys delicate floral scents should definitely give it a chance.

Edit September 2014: My bottle has indeed become empty over the course of the year - and as I read the comment about it, I am considering whether I should get a bottle again. Soon, those gift sets for Christmas will be available again...

Fresh florals with a watery fruitiness. A bit too sweet for me, but the soft sillage makes it bearable, at least when worn by others.

Delicate green pastel flowers surrounded by singing little birds. Beautifully fresh, lightly green with a watermelon-like sweetness. I like it!

Pretty fruitiness from melon and lychee, cheerful bright florals, and a hint of earthy bitterness. Cool and spring-like. Good!

You have to spray it multiple times, but it's a really lovely scent, I like it (floral-sweet).

Uncomplicated, soft floral cream freshness. It's not the greatest art, but it has the potential to be a go-to.

Fresh-floral with a delicate fruity sweetness. Subtle, but that's exactly what I like about it. Longevity is okay for such a delicate scent.

Very light, sweet-fresh floral scent with clean-green tendencies. Suitable for high summer, subtle and rather short-lived.

fresh-floral like every second one, but I can't tear myself away. There's something about the freshness that's really special.
