Chocolate Peach
In summary, In Love seems to me like Style by Night, over which a dose of Black Opium has been poured.
Regardless of the ingredients, the basic scent structure in the top note reminds me a lot of Style by Night, Dior Pure Poison, or Michael Kors Sexy Amber; at first, they all seem quite similar: striking, elegant, cheerful, slightly sparkling, and beautifully powdery. Years ago, I tested this fragrance, but since I already owned Style by Night and the two seemed so alike, I didn’t pay it much attention. Today, my Style by Night is nearing its end, and In Love is no longer being produced, so I spontaneously seized the opportunity while it’s still available here.
I can distinctly perceive the fruity clean peach in In Love, followed by the tangy prominent blackcurrant and a slightly prickly grapefruit. I find these notes are consistently present. After a while, it becomes floral; freesia adds a slight freshness, and heliotrope and honeysuckle soon usher in the gourmand base, powdery, beautifully creamy, slightly dark spicy, and simply delicious. If I didn’t know better, I would suspect plum and chocolate slowly pouring over peach and blackcurrant, unusual but really very tasty! That’s why it reminds me so much of YSL Black Opium in the base.
Today is also a strange day; despite the icy cold and hurricane winds, the sun is shining, and not a single cloud is visible in the sky, and I think that perfectly underscores In Love: the fragrance is elegant and clear, yet sunny and cheerful, while still providing enough warmth and spice to feel comfortable and cozy on a winter day like today. I also like the bottle; it looks like a little fruit :-) I just wonder if there are different ingredients in the EDP and EDT. The tester at the local DM (the scent is no longer available at Müller) was an EDP, but you could only buy the EDT. The latter has a strong alcohol note in the first few minutes, and it seems that the two variants differ quite a bit. After about 10 minutes, however, they smell almost the same, although I believe the EDP seems a bit fruitier, while the gourmand note is more pronounced in the EDT.
