Sucking on Ice Candies While Walking in the Woods
That Michel Almairac is one of my favorite noses is probably well known. Recently, I took another look at his creations and got stuck on this one. I still remember Bogner Snow so well, also a gift from my mother to Mr. Polly. It was 2000, just before I set off for the first time to the UK to study there for a while, and of course, it accompanied me for the first days in the new country. Unfortunately, this beautiful Eau de Toilette was also in the suitcase that we forgot on the train journey from Manchester to Wales during the transfer in Crewe. We both worried about the fragrance, as we both found it beautiful.

Looking at the notes today, so many years later, I am somewhat surprised. Galbanum. Ginger. Oakmoss. Not exactly my favorites. Juniper is also not one of my favorite notes, but with this Bogner, everything was so finely intertwined that I simply perceived a very noble, fresh scent. Disruptive factors? None to be found. I experienced Snow as fresh, but not at all aquatic. It had a certain coolness that I would, if I didn't know better, attribute to a mint note. This kind of coolness I know very well from L’Occitane Verveine Menthe or Goutal's Nuit Etoilée. Since mint was supposedly not included in Snow, I suspect a combination of Galbanum, Ginger, and Juniper that created this fine coolness in the end.

The scent also remains finely woody in my memory, and I believe it is the ambered base that made me like it so much. I still particularly enjoy fragrances with amber in the base on my better half. I wasn't bothered at all by the slightly antique touch that the oakmoss brought with it.

It probably left the market so quickly because, despite all its freshness, it had a classic touch and was not modern-aquatic, which would remind one of shower gel. No, Snow was more like sucking on ice candies while walking in the woods, and thus far away from Calone & Co.

By the way, we did get the travel bag and Mr. Polly's EdT back. Sometimes you just have to be lucky.

Willy Bogner's Sense of Snow
In line with the current weather, my gaze once again fell on Snow from my small collection today. This fragrance has been in my selection for a long time, and I like to bring it out from time to time to enjoy it.

Willy Bogner and snow have always been a magical connection. On one hand, of course, as a ski racer. But also unforgettable are the thrilling film shots, especially for the 007 classic "The Spy Who Loved Me." It was only a matter of time before a perfume from the Bogner house had to be dedicated to this element.

In principle, I would agree with the classification as fresh-aquatic, although the aquatic aspect stands out significantly from the usual suspects. The juniper is crisp and present at the beginning and remains so throughout the development. I don't know which note or notes manage to create this characteristic sharp, icy accord. In any case, it has succeeded excellently in capturing the crisp, cold impression of fresh mountain air after snowfall. Chilling and crystal clear, yet also cutting and sharp. The fragrance maintains this "crispy" character throughout and only becomes a bit softer and gentler towards the end.

The longevity is above average for a fresh scent, lasting 7-8 hours. In the first 2-3 hours, the sillage is also quite extensive, then it gradually recedes slowly. By the way, the bottle is also stylish, made of partially frosted blue glass, slightly curved, and standing on its head. The frosting indeed resembles glass fogged up from the cold.

Not one of the great classics that one would mourn the loss of. Yet it is successful with a touch of the extraordinary. Willy Bogner's sense of snow has been interpreted here very convincingly.

Sporty Freshness in Deep Snow
Recently, I spotted a few perfumes in the bargain bin (!) of our local pharmacy (!!) and coincidentally, there was something from Bogner as well. For 5 euros (!!!), you can hardly go wrong, I thought, and just picked up Bogner Snow. I would have regretted it...

Upon unboxing, the bottle stands out - it’s upside down, nice. And it actually looks really cool, no question, very pretty.

And the perfume? It really blew me away, in a positive way. An aquatic sport scent, but quite a bit different from Cool Water and its epigones. Fresh, but not citrusy at all (or soapy...), rather herbal, spicy, and aromatic. Initially unfamiliar and unexpected, Bogner Snow is a real hit. I am truly impressed and will definitely wear it not just in the snow (what snow?).

cool and frosty
I had this fragrance when I was 19 or 20. Back then, aquatic scents impressed me a lot. Today, I might not buy Bogner Snow anymore, but I would still like it.
The scent indeed presents itself as icy cool; the name is well chosen. It’s been a long time, but I would describe it as spicy-woody and of course very fresh. The good thing is, Snow remains quite natural, without smelling like the typical "Cool Ocean Breeze for men" shower gel from Cliff. An aquatic fragrance that really stands out from the crowd of its competitors.
It's a pity that it's no longer available. I might not buy it anymore, but I would love to smell it again. Although very well composed, the fantasy prices on eBay are not justified; there are definitely adequate alternatives in the designer corner.

Fruity-fresh experience with great spicy and herbal-green notes. Unfortunately, it's just a rather subtle, short pleasure.
