patchouli praline

extremely sweet in the opening in a caramelized sort of way, and the nutty facets here read veryyy candied vs rich or deep or dry, which I think is where the scent falters a bit. The patchouli here is noticeable in a dusty sort of way, with a creamy iris and smooth cashmeran. The licorice is very subtle, barely there, and I think if it were more prominent. the spice would've helped level things out here. As a patchuoli hater, this isn't my cup of tea as I find it too strong, but this is one of the better sweet patchoulis I've tried.

I Snack on Nuts and Licorice

At the beginning, I can clearly perceive the hazelnut, unlike the citrus notes. Already within the first few minutes, I smell the licorice. I really like licorice in fragrances. Relatively quickly, the scent completes its development, which happens within about half an hour. The interplay of the base notes creates a warm, slightly woody, amber-like, deep character; I can still smell the licorice note for about 30 minutes after spraying. Iris and musk give the fragrance a very gentle softness. The scent reminds me a bit of the original Lolita Lempicka, which also has a pronounced licorice note. The 501 has a moderate sweetness. It is neither weak nor particularly strong, so it is well noticeable but does not overwhelm anyone. It becomes relatively close to the skin quite quickly. Due to the potent base notes, it is relatively long-lasting for a Bon Parfumeur fragrance. I find it pleasant and fragrant in each of its development stages. I like to wear it solo, but also layered with the 203, which harmonizes well to my nose.

Nutty or Cotton Candy?

Then I will try my hand at my first review…️:-)
I don’t think this scent is bad at all. Right after spraying, I smell something sweet and nutty. After a few minutes, something creamy comes through. I can also detect cotton candy. Unfortunately, the nuttiness has disappeared.
One thing is clear, the scent is sweet. Maybe a bit too much…. I can’t smell the described licorice at all. But that’s not a problem, as I hate licorice.
The longevity and sillage are okay. There are many similar perfumes that don’t last as long.

In my opinion, the price is reasonable.

The Quiet Sister of LVEB

The title says it all - 501 is for me the slightly more refined la vie est belle. If you like this scent, it's a nice alternative that doesn't overwhelm you quite as much. A bit "quieter" and softer, I like the hazelnut in between, but unfortunately, it comes up way too short. LVEB is too mainstream for me personally - since I wore it up and down 10 years ago and you could smell it everywhere, it has long been nothing for me and thus unfortunately neither is 501. Bye!
