Here is my review of the new Myrrh Shadow, which is number 403. This brand Bon Parfumeur gives its fragrances a number and a meaningful description of the scent in the name. Here Myrrh Shadow, which is easily recognizable as a myrrh fragrance and this note is also in the leading role. I also have the
004 Gin Mandarine Musc from this brand, which is also great and also significantly cheaper than this new release. However, this Les Extraits series is also a higher-quality extrait series which also appears somewhat more sophisticated in its presentation. The perfumer for this fragrance is none other than Quentin Bisch, here in collaboration with Dame Amelie Jacquin. It was through this perfumer Bisch that I first became aware of this great release, as I am already a fan of his works and they simply work great in everyday life: his works are true compliment-getters, which you can feel when you wear them. This one was a blind buy, but with a 15% discount. The 100ml are otherwise quite lavish at €160 per 100ml but absolutely within reason. It's perfect for the current autumn temperatures due to the warmth it radiates.
The bottle and packaging look classy. The bottle is really difficult to remove from the box, so get rid of this stuff quickly. The bottle looks good, but is kept rather simple. The atomizer works perfectly.
In terms of fragrance, this extrait convinces from the first minute with this great warm myrrh DNA. Roughly speaking, this myrrh construction is slightly reminiscent of
Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense, but has significantly more resinous notes in the direction of amber & benzoin. This creation also reminds me slightly of
Ambra Calabria, but is also much more autumnal and warmer. No more comparisons, as this one is already independent, these fragrances only serve as a rough classification. The start of this fragrance is already quite warm, even though fruity-citrus notes appear in the top note. These do not really come through, but keep this fragrance a little lighter at the start. Myrrh, vanilla & benzoin are already the main notes of this fragrance and appear throughout. This fragrance also seems somehow ambery, even if this note is not officially listed here. There is such a warming veil around this fragrance throughout, so that you feel well accompanied in the fall. A slightly cinnamon spice is also present, along with some basil and great cypress. In the base, there are also more great woody notes with cedar and this typical Akigalawood, which Bisch likes to use so much. There is also the substance cosmone, which is said to be musky and also has amber vibes. All in all, everything is very well-rounded and simply a treat for the fall, which is also suitable for indoor wear. It is also extremely unisex and wearable by all age groups and styles.
Performance is already very solid, but in this direction you can usually expect more sillage and durability. Nevertheless, satisfactory with moderate sillage and approx. 8 hours lasting power.
Overall clear recommendation for this great warm fragrance that is perfect for cool to mild fall days. Very high quality that simply has that feel-good factor.
