Sophisticated / Standoffish / Sparkly ʕ •ᴥ•ʔゝ
It’s a beautifully snobby rose chypre that you don’t get to choose - it chooses you…similar to Gris Dior (but not as dark/bitter/heady) and almost the same as Eau Capitale. Perfect for Spring. Paris - Paris is sparkly and elegant, but has enough bite in its graceful composition to, for example, give people that are big overthinkers or that feel inadequate in some way, the right boost of confidence to do what they need to do in this harsh world.

I think anyone can technically wear it, but only a certain kind of person will be able to truly embody what this perfume is all about – IYKYK. Don’t even think about crap like “quiet luxury” “stealth wealth” “old money” or whatever it is that people obsessed about these things don’t have: if these empty concepts made a big dent in your smooth brain, you might be better off paying your credit card debt instead of buying this!

Simple, elegant rose
This fragrance opens with an uplifting, soapy rose spiced with pink pepper. The citrus notes are mainly in the background, which gives the opening slightly tart support to make it more rounded. It might be a stretch, but the opening reminds me of Roja's Oligarch(now Isola Blu) without the depth. (Another way to think about it is this+Terre'd Hermes = Oligarch) The scent is very linear and simple, which aligns with most of Chanel's fragrances, Chanel always puts 'class' and 'elegance' before 'complexity' or 'making an impression', even in their exclusive line, there's maybe 20% chance you'll find a more 'bold and different' scent that isn't mass appealing. This can be a pro or a con for different tastes. Because many fragheads don't realize that complexity doesn't necessarily imply better taste, I think it's worth pointing that out...

Projection is about Average, Longevity is a bit lacking(around 6 hours), but it is well understandable for this scent profile.

Chanel Les Eaux are the type of fragrances that suit me. Reduced and wearable, yet not ordinary. My undisputed favorite is Deauville, which is not only a fresh summer scent but also my symbol of understated elegance. Citrusy fragrances are often associated with Mediterranean joie de vivre, while Deauville reflects the rugged beauty of the Normandy coast. Herbaceous and herbal. Wonderful! The other Les Eaux also resonate with their names, and what they all have in common is a skilled simplicity that does not tip into the banal.

How does Chanel Paris fit into this? The advertising photo shows the simple bottle with light pink liquid against the backdrop of a clear and cool Parisian morning by the Seine. The sky is bright blue. Does the scent correspond to this image?

Paris is far from being as clear and bright as the morning in the advertisement. The fresh citrus notes immediately flash, and the pepper tingles in the nose, but almost simultaneously, the rose is present, and its petals may once have been rosy, but now the dust of the city has cast a fine veil over them. This gray-pink is quite charming, but it also takes away some of its brilliance. It is the dust of life that patchouli lays over it, creating a modern chypre-like note. Perhaps it is the fine sand dust blown from the chestnut-lined paths in the Tuileries, or perhaps it comes from the alleys of the Quartier Latin. The result is nonchalant, not dirty.

Citrusy notes, rose, and patchouli harmoniously blend in the style of an Eau. Light, but not really light-footed, rather mature and a touch melancholic. In this, it resembles Eau Capitale by Diptyque, which is more intense, fuller, and somewhat softer in comparison. Portrait of a Lady also has this interplay of citrus, rose, and patch, but it is much more complex and in a strict and almost commanding form.

Paris does not undergo any significant scent development. The fragrance has no sweetness, no heaviness, and feels cool. The longevity is quite good for an Eau, but the sillage is low. I see it as more feminine, but not exclusively so. Due to its melancholic side, it is not a fresh summer scent; on the other hand, its cologne-like lightness and citrus splashes do not quite predispose it for the cold season either. Therefore, the bright advertising photo does not entirely match reality for me. The scent leaves me with a gray-pink impression. Paris in the morning gray, the transition between day and night, just before sunrise, but still with a first flash of pink in the sky. The cool mood of the photo is accurate. When and where will I wear it? Since Paris and I have not been friends for long, we may still need to find our way. It is definitely worth a try.

Paris-Piter.
Papa's aversion to Paris was puzzling. Otherwise, he could hardly refuse anything to his Lucifer (my mother), but he sabotaged her dream of Paris in many ways. You could tell - it was personal, something had happened between him and Paris.
-Dad, I'm at the Louvre and I've seen the Venus de Milo!
-Oh, is it more impressive than the statues from the Hermitage?
-Dad, Versailles isn't as opulent as I thought it would be.
-Of course not, you are spoiled with palaces that surpass everything.
-Dad, I feel so sick, the scallops with champagne caused a severe allergic reaction.
-Oh God, you shouldn't eat those fancy French hors d'oeuvres. Drink a little vodka.
So it was personal and it was puzzling because my father never shunned a trip, he enjoyed eating exotic and dangerous foods (I only mention - self-caught barracudas) and no matter where in the world we were, Dad would buy an encyclopedia about the current country/city/river and study it from page 1 to the publisher's information.
He tolerated the existence of Paris and punished it with careful indifference.
But he liked this Paris by Chanel.
I knew that the scents were now overwhelming for him, much was quickly too much, and I only sprayed the fragrances when leaving the house, quickly, secretly, a little, so that the whipping icy air, which in this metropolis consists of 90% exhaust fumes, could free me from the last scent molecules after a few hours.
But a hint remained in my hair, and during those 3 days, when we stood on the border between finitude and eternity, Dad often said that I smelled like the frozen rose, photographed on the day of my engagement, and if the roses in Paris smell like this, then he missed something in life and at least Lucifer must absolutely visit Paris.
I can't say more about this scent - it is a frozen rose, a hint of patchouli gives it seriousness, shrouded in silvery-gray veils (is this the cold of Neva? Is this the wind by the Seine?). And the finest citrus notes that Chanel has generously but thoughtfully incorporated bring nothing Mediterranean or summery-happy with them. They are more like winter sun, struggling to break through the leaden clouds after the cold paralysis. It doesn't immediately bring spring and hope, but the eyes, initially blinded by the low-standing star, gradually adjust to the light.
Paris-Paris is the scent for many moods - it invigorates in leaden fatigue, grounds when the soul is restless like the wind, and allows one to accept their own melancholy and sorrow with reconciliation. Not la vie en rose, but cendres de rose - ashes of the rose.

Rose-PatchOudh Chypre, classic
My very first impression was: "Not another one of those meaningless floral waters for people and markets that only like perfumes without scent but with fabric softener!"
But that would have been very far off, because within a few seconds a classic rose chypre emerges. The patchouli counterpoint is modernized with a bit of wood and minimal oud synthetic.
Even the fabric softener fades away after about 1 hour. Paris-Paris then develops somewhat in the direction of unisex. What remains is a very classic, elegant, and mature fragrance that I would rather wear in the fall. With a little suit and pearl necklace for an appointment at the notary.

The adventurous gentleman can also give it a try, but he will probably be happier with "Paris - Édimbourg | Chanel."
Overall solidly made, but definitely nothing new. You can have it in your collection to cover the rose chypre flank. But you don't have to, especially since there is a lot of good stuff in this segment at more acceptable prices.
This interpretation of the city of love is rather strict and not particularly cheerful or even frivolous. It's a bit of a shame...

Autumnal rose. Smells like the chilly mornings that turn into warm afternoons. Almost coffee like at some points (patch, likely).

A cool, crisp sparkling water adorned with a rose and wedge of lemon. Very nice for a hot summer day. Leans feminine

Slightly powdery rose + bright citrus. A bit fresh + spicy with the classic Chanel patchouli. Too rosy for my tastes but it's well-blended

Rose-patch with a rather strong lemon and a bit of Chanel sauce. Not my fave Chanel, not my fave rose-patch

Testing it to me it’s the perfect early spring perfume. Fresh and floral but the spicy notes make it way more interesting

Entirely enamored with this one. Slightly spicy top notes, with the most wonderful dry down. I wear this for myself and no one else.

Green rose veil that lasts on me all day. I find it much more present than the other Eaux. Patchouli stands out clearly. Nice!
