Heading down?
The latest flanker by the nomade line is coming after great predecessors. Expectations were set pretty high and excitement for the release was obvious. Unfortunately the perfume is a step (or more) down compared to the others, at least to my nose and on my skin.

Nights full of flowers...
This is one of those scents where the drydown doesn't fulfill the promises made by the opening. In the very first moments I can smell the cinnamon, the spiciness, the balsamic warmth and, of course, the orange blossom. But only the latter is here to stay.

Nuit d'Egypte is a very floral scent, much closer to Nomade Naturelle than the original Nomade. Besides the listed orange blossom, I also get a strong jasmine note. Maybe they just have some overlaps and I'm imagining things. Anyways, this is the oily kind of floral that reminds me of sunscreen or tanning products and even old-fashioned hairspray. It comes across quite sharp on my skin. The balsamic and spicy notes get drowned out by it. They're still noticeable when you sniff very closely, but they don't stand out.

I've never been to Egypt, but when I smell this and think of Egyptian nights, I think of an all-inclusive resort where people use lots of sunscreen and maybe one jasmine shrub blooming in the distance.

To me this is a case of wasted potential. I wish this was a little richer, warmer and spicier and not leaning so far into beachy floral territory. The concept of the scent is great, the execution is just okay.

Now that I'm writing this review with a blotter next to me, I have to add a little disclaimer: It smells better and more interesting on paper than on my skin. Still a bit too sharply floral, but the warmth doesn't wear off so quickly. Maybe this one is for people who wear perfume on their clothes, which I almost never do.

Soft Oriental
Nomade Nuit d’Égypte is to date my favorite of the range.

It smells like an oriental balm, like a velvety scent of orange blossom, myrrh and honey.

It's soft, sweet, balsamy, oriental and a bit mysterious all at once. I really like it.

However, I find that the staying power and sillage are not very good but it seems to me that it's a bit like that for all Chloé's. They're all quite delicate.

It’s…ok
I loved the original Nomade, but haven’t tried any of the flankers. This new flanker caught my eye because it seemed more unique, and the listed notes really interested me.

It’s not a bad perfume, but not what I was expecting based on the description and the notes. Based on the description, I was expecting a more overtly spicy, incense-y fragrance. When first sprayed on a tester, it just seemed like a rather generic sweet perfume and I was nervous to test on my skin.

Thankfully, on my skin the almost honey-like sweetness calms down in just a few minutes and the cinnamon and ginger emerge. It is DEFINITELY orange-blossom dominant, at least on me. It’s basically a sweet floral perfume with a hint of spice. Like another reviewer said below, it kind of does remind me of sweet dates so there is the “Egyptian nights” association, I guess.

I’d definitely wear this in the spring, fall, and winter. It’s a tad too sweet for hot summer weather, I think, but maybe on cooler summer nights. I definitely still prefer the original. I think I need to wear this a few times and let it grow on me.

A glass of warm milk with honey.
I tested the fragrance on my skin yesterday in the orange perfumery, fell in love with it and bought the edp immediately! I have to say that I don't know the other Nomade Eau de Parfum Naturelle and therefore can't compare the Nomade range with each other.

Nomade Nuit d'Égypte is a tribute to the founder of the House of Chloé, whose homeland was beautiful Egypt. The main component of the DNA is Kyphi (a kind of incense mixture) which was already used in ancient Egypt during important rituals and was regarded as the scent of the divine. I personally have never smelled kyphi like this in a perfume before, which is precisely why Nomade Nuit d'Égypte is so mysterious and unique to me.

The opening is fresh (probably reminiscent of the other Nomade fragrances), almost a little green. But the freshness fades VERY quickly, within seconds, and is then replaced by a very pleasant sweetness and warmth. Although described as "spicy", at least my nose doesn't smell any real spicy notes. The feeling of Egypt and the smell of the spicy bazaar is unfortunately missing.

To me, it smells like sunny orange blossom coated in warm caramel (although caramel is not an ingredient). It is probably the honey that gives this fragrance a sweetness, warmth and incredible softness that conveys a soothing, almost balsamic feeling. It brings back memories of warm milk with honey. Or have you ever eaten a Medjool date filled with creamy peanut butter? The scent reminds me of that! Not necessarily the smell, more the feeling. Creamy, sweet & very smooth.

Creamy, lotion-like, slightly oily, that's how it smells on my skin. Almost like a very high-quality body lotion. Or even a high-quality suntan oil with tiare.

What struck me about this fragrance is that it never has an alcohol smell. Not even when spraying it on. I later read that this edp consists of 90% natural fragrances and you can smell that. It smells natural and never synthetic or too artificial.

For me, it is a perfect fragrance for warmer evenings in spring or summer. It has a beautiful and mature elegance. I would recommend it for ages 25 and up. The fragrance progression is very linear and consistent after the opening has faded.

The longevity on my skin is outstandingly good. Even after washing my hands 5 times (yes, I actually counted and smelled it), the fragrance was still very noticeable on the back of my hand. the fragrance lasts for 7 hours on my skin without any problems. Sillage is medium.

If you like words like mysterious, warm, sweet, classy, feminine, oriental, creamy and VERY soft, you should definitely give this great fragrance a chance.

PS: If you love Libre Eau de Parfum Intense, you could most likely adore this fragrance. Not because the fragrances are similar, but because, at least for me, they have the same warmth and suit the same type of woman.

I'm glad I only bought a decant; it's a nice blend, but I still favor the OG Nomade and Naturelle flanker.
