A Love Story Indeed
Chloe Love Story is a beautiful fragrance and I am glad to have tried it. The original Chloe EDP doesn't suit my skin nor my tastes all too well and sadly many of her flankers pose the same problem as they smell too alike. Chloe Love Story could be considered a stand-alone fragrance as it bears very few similarities to its predecessor.

Chloe Love Story is a clean, somewhat soapy interpretation of neroli, stephanotis, rose and pear. It has a similar fresh laundry vibe like the rest of the Chloe range, just without the fizzy peony and litchi notes.

Chloe Love Story was recommended on a few bridal websites as the perfect garden wedding scent. As a soon-to-be-bride myself I am placing Chloe Love Story onto my rather exhaustive shortlist for my big day. I adore neroli dominant fragrances and am looking for something refreshing and pristine with this fragrance ticking lots of boxes.

I am a little concerned however that Chloe Love Story is soon to be discontinued if not already. My local department store now only carries the original Chloe EDP, Chloe Fleur de Parfum and Roses de Chloe, with Chloe Love Story already relegated to the discount stores. If this is to be my wedding day fragrance I will have to make my decision quickly to avoid disappointment.

Love Story.... well...
Since I have heard from many people that the Chloe fragrances are good and sometimes very romantic, I went to the perfume store to form my own opinion about the Chloe scents. I tested every Chloe fragrance... I simply find that 99% of Chloe's scents smell like soap, or am I just imagining it? The saleswoman said that Love Story is one of the most popular Chloe fragrances because it is supposed to be very feminine, so I gave Love Story a chance. With Love Story, I also only smell soap and rose, which I find really disappointing! The Chloe fragrances are not the cheapest either, and at a high price, I think not every scent should smell like soap or rose. I was just disappointed and gave up on these fragrances; I believe I had too high expectations. The scents are indeed feminine, but nothing really special either. The fragrances have neither a special scent progression nor highs and lows; in short, they are just boring for my taste! And with Love Story, I smelled only soap and rose throughout the entire scent progression; only at the end could I detect a slight note of orange blossom, nothing more.
I would be interested in hearing others' opinions on this fragrance because I find it just strange that I only smell soap and rose... The longevity wasn't great either; I could only perceive the scent on my skin for 4 hours.

In Love with Clémence
Although I am generally a niche lover in olfactory terms, there are still some well-known fragrances that can pleasantly surprise me. This recently happened with Chloé's relaunch of Love Story. I love the classic from the house and know very few women who do not appreciate the powdery scent. When I first saw the beautiful advertisement featuring the wonderfully authentic Clémence Poesy, I knew: this is going to be a love story. The way she strolls so effortlessly and French along the Seine, with that romantic bottle in hand, oh..! Floral essences of orange blossom and neroli paired with soft cedarwood may not sound like the most groundbreaking composition at first glance. And I suppose that’s not what Love Story aims to be. It is an incredibly clear fragrance, gentle and girlish, very pure and elegant. In the past few days, as I step out of the shower, the thought immediately crosses my mind: today I will wear Love Story! The perfume is so wonderfully uncomplicated and fresh, just the right amount of scent that one would like to wear during the day and still find exciting while dancing in the evening. I would really love to know where my liaison with this bottle comes from, was it perhaps the beautiful Clémence? Or the almost kitschy setting of the perfect commercial? I don't know, but one thing is clear: for my next date, I want to smell just like this! Like delicate, freshly bloomed flowers that subtly settle in the nose and evoke a cozy smile the whole time. A perfume made for falling in love and perhaps the beginning of a truly great love story?

Love or Hate Story
Now I have to tell you something about my Valentine's Day gift.
I really like all the scents from Chloe, some more than others. I am less open to new things these days, as nothing really blows me away anymore. This new delicate breeze is not exactly a fragrance bomb, but I still like it very much.

Why? Well, I see this Love Story on a spring day, you wake up and are immediately in a good mood. The sun is shining and the first spring flowers are greeting you. Cheerfully, you start the day with this fresh and floral scent, radiating energy and enthusiasm. I notice neither sharpness, pungency, nor toilet cleaner; I usually have that impression with citrus scents. When I first tested this new fragrance, I noticed a slightly soapy note, which I no longer perceive after some wear time.

Well, it’s nothing terribly new that we’re encountering here; Neroli, orange blossoms, and flowers are currently delighting many perfumers and are being translated into new fragrances. By the way, I just had to Google Stephanotis; you can’t know everything after all. It’s a type of flower from the wreath vine that exudes a captivating scent. I would have said I smell jasmine, that would probably be simpler.
If the rose in the regular Chloe, EdP, bothered you, you might want to take a closer look at this scent, fresh, cheerful, and simply enchanting. And completely without rose. A very light, pleasant breeze surrounds you constantly; Love Story certainly doesn’t stand out negatively. My husband really likes this scent on me. I smell so good! The only downside is that the scent doesn’t last all day. Reapplying is necessary. At this price, that stings a bit.

So, how does my Love Story smell exactly? In short, fresh, floral, not sweet, but not bitter, with a woody finish. You should like orange blossoms, though. Fresh yet sensual, skillfully conveyed. I think I can still sense a hint of musk at the end, not bad. It’s also well-suited as an office scent, and I see Love Story as ageless. Anyone who likes it can wear it.

So, that’s my personal Love Story! What you make of it is up to you.

There is still no love story for me to tell,… *sigh* :D
And again we have a love story here… at least by the name of the fragrance. As I mentioned with the EDT recently, I unfortunately can’t tell a love story, well, due to the lack of a girlfriend and all, mu ha ha ha, I could at most talk about a few romantic movies, but I’m not so good at that either, since I don’t really watch such films often… unless there’s a totally charming actress like Audrey Tautou involved… *siiiiigh* :D

Since I’m talking about the French… oui oui, they are now world champions, the game was great and quite goal-rich, but the games are over now. So you surely have plenty of time to read all my silly comments where I constantly whine and annoy everyone :D

So, back to the fragrance. Recently I introduced the EDT of this scent here. Today I’ll try to list the differences to the EDP, even though at first sniff both fragrances should smell quite similar.

The scent:
The scent actually starts almost the same as the EDT. You can smell beautiful neroli, light (and indeterminate) flowers, as well as a slightly sweet note, which is stronger here compared to the EDT. Hmm… Stephanotis?? I have no idea how this wreath plant smells, but since it belongs to the jasmine family and is supposed to have a strong scent, I assume that the sweetness radiates from this plant, which is why the fragrance has a somewhat more intense sweetness than the EDT.
Later in the base, I also smell a lot of neroli and floral scents; the sweet notes are still present, but have now weakened (and continue to weaken) and resemble more the sweetness of musk rather than jasmine. And almost typical for a base note, you can also clearly smell the cedarwood here, which is a big difference from the EDT, as cedar or any woody notes are not present in the EDT.

The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is somewhat higher than with the EDT, at least especially at the beginning. After a while, however, both fragrances can seem equally strong again.
The longevity is a bit higher, so the scent lasts just over eight hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is great as always. It is rectangular with grooves in the glass and a chrome-plated top "edge," where the brand name is engraved. The bottle might remind one a bit of ancient buildings, which I find pretty cool (somewhat similar to the Roma bottles, although this is more obvious with the Roma fragrances, and here it just seems to me that the bottles look like ancient buildings).
There is no label; the fragrance name is printed on the lower part of the bottle. There’s also the swingable handle thingy (what do you even call that? :D) with a nice silk ribbon in the same color as the fragrance liquid (light pastel green). A great bottle, although the EDT looks a tad prettier due to the pink fragrance liquid.

So… first of all: I don’t quite understand one thing here… the EDP was rated significantly worse than the EDT, hmm… sure, there are some differences between the fragrances, but as long as one doesn’t mind a somewhat stronger radiating neroli in the base (which makes the scent more citrusy-sour than the EDT), I find both versions of the fragrance equally successful, which is also the reason why I rate both fragrances the same.

Like the EDT, this scent is absolutely great for spring and summer; I would even say it’s more suited for summer, as the fragrances are not so strong in their radiance and will surely unfold better on warmer days, rather than being blown away at the slightest breeze :D

For going out, the fragrances might be too weak, but one could still give it a try, as they smell nice. Those who have the dilemma of choice should simply test both extensively. The EDT is generally warmer and less citrusy, while the EDP radiates slightly stronger and smells more of neroli or orange blossoms, even in the base. Both are lovely fragrances that, while simply constructed, come across nicely.

So, now there’s still the Eau Sensuelle left (which surely smells great, I’m already excited to test it)… and I bet that by the time I test it, I still won’t have a “love story” to tell… aaaaaaaargh and *siiiiigh* ! :DD

Loud orange blossom with a soapy touch. I find it overwhelming and only bearable in tiny doses. But if you like that...

Bright, fresh summer scent, a fine blend of neroli and orange blossom. Powdery, warm, and sunny.

A "I don't know what to wear today" scent. It suits every occasion since it "doesn't disturb," and I take that as a positive.
