A Successful Celebration!
Participants:
Mrs. Bergamot, class teacher of the 4th grade
Mrs. Mandarin, parents' association chairwoman, mother of Theo Mandarin
Mrs. Orange, mother of Jessica Orange and volunteer helper
Ms. Dir. Basil, former principal of the Sweet and Delicious School
Mr. Mag. Ginger, father of Tobias Ginger
Miss Neroli, assistant teacher
Lotte and Herbert Violetleaf, students of the 4th grade
The student carnival party for the 4th grade is to be planned, and one might think that this should not take longer than one - at most two hours. Far from it!
Mrs. Bergamot welcomes those present and wants to briefly explain how she envisions the whole thing.
Of course, Mrs. Mandarin immediately interrupts her, as she always does. Quite rude!
Mrs. Bergamot gives her an angry look, and this dispute is used by Mrs. Orange to stand up and step forward. She has thought everything through very carefully. Garlands, donuts, raspberry juice - all the children love that.
Mrs. Mandarin completely disagrees. "Why always carnival donuts? Confetti, garlands, raspberry juice - that's fine, but not always donuts. Maybe something different this time - little cakes would be nice. Like cups or whatever they are called - maybe something with lime!!"
"Cupcakes!" comes the response from Miss Neroli in the second row. "They are called cupcakes!"
Mrs. Mandarin nods approvingly at her. "Thank you!" She hopes to have an ally in Miss Neroli.
Mrs. Bergamot wants to involve the former principal in the planning. Looking for help, she glances at her. But Mrs. Basil remains silent. "Maybe she doesn't have her hearing aid in?" thinks Mrs. Bergamot. "She forgot it at the Christmas performance too." No help was to be expected from that side.
A quick glance at Mr. Mag. Ginger shows her that he certainly won't get involved.
In the meantime, Mrs. Mandarin and Miss Neroli have become good friends. The two are already exchanging cake recipes.
Mrs. Orange, who is very peace-loving, agrees with the lime cakes. However, next year it must be donuts again. She insists on that.
Mrs. Bergamot sighs. She shrugs her shoulders and nods.
Herbert Violetleaf raises his hand. He is already lounging at the table and almost waving.
All heads turn to the Violetleaf siblings. Lotte and Herbert stand up. "But we want to dress up too," says Herbert. Lotte nods. "I want to go as a princess," she says reproachfully.
This wish will of course be fulfilled for the children.
The planning of the carnival party has now taken much longer than intended - almost five hours.
Everyone present is satisfied and believes that this will be a fun carnival party.
