Quince. Is anyone else thinking of Quincy?
I have to admit that I haven't seen a single episode of that series… hey, at least I'm not as old as all of you here! :D
But,… I am getting older and older, it's enough to make you cry *sniff* … especially when you constantly feel like you haven't achieved much, waaaah *sniff again*
Anyway, this is about quinces. Some will surely laugh because they think that once again, due to my limited botanical knowledge, I might not know what quinces are. But ha, I do know!! I've been eating those things since I was a child (okay, I have to admit that back then I only knew the Turkish name for them, “ayva,” which somehow sounds like “oh dear”…. :DD).
But I like quinces, even though they feel a bit strange when you touch them,… um, handle them!
So, now I'm curious if the fragrance really smells like quinces.
The Fragrance:
Hmm… well, the fragrance doesn't smell like a quince right now. But maybe this is just the beginning, which is still developing. Because I can already smell fruity notes, which smell more like apples. Then it gets quite sweet for a short time, but more like candy sweet, somewhat similar to candies with berry or cherry flavor.
A little later, the fragrance does remind me a bit of quinces, but for me, it doesn't smell very authentic. It's not bad, as it has a pleasant, fruity-sweet scent, but for a quince note, in my opinion, it should smell slightly sour and also a bit dry. Right?
The Sillage and Longevity:
The projection is weak, so the fragrance is only perceptible to oneself.
The longevity is also only moderate, as the fragrance lasts just two to three hours.
The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and has a chrome-plated, cylindrical cap. The bottle itself is nothing special, as it is simply functional and, after all, a container for the fragrances has to come from somewhere, but… why design the label in Paint? :D
And then the color of the bar is green instead of yellow, as quinces usually are…
But the best part is still to come: On the sample sprayer (a 15 mL TZ from Demeter), they spelled the name of the fragrance wrong!!! Instead of Quince, it says Qunice! Ha ha ha!
Anyway, the bottle is unattractive, and that's that!
Okay, the fragrance initially smells pleasant. But as already mentioned in the fragrance description, it only slightly reminds me of the smell of quinces. Because the sweet notes are a bit too intense for me, at least when it comes to quinces, because as far as I can remember, quinces themselves don't smell that sweet.
Now that it's midsummer, of course, I can't find any quinces anywhere.
You know, my parents and my brother like to eat quinces garnished with lemon and salt. I can understand the lemon, but I like these fruits less when they're salty. Otherwise, I prefer to eat them plain (but of course peeled).
You could wear the fragrance as a perfume, but it's a bit too simple, somewhat synthetic, and too short-lived for that. You can test it, but really, that's about it.
