Oh but how it hurts, the realisation of what I have become;
A brooding whisper of untainted joy,
Drowned petals and the smell of ferality,
Spectral metal pierces the soul.

Blu v2 Lampung LTD was sold in 2025 at ≈ 16€/ml - a version of my all time favourite perfume,
Blu. Around 50 bottles were produced. Blu v2 was made right after Blu was sold, roughly a year ago, with the addition of Meroke Oud, a region in Papua, Indonesia. This review will be split in 3 sections, the scent compared to Blu v1, the scent itself, and a final verdict.

I personally believe that versions of an original perfume must be compared as to better assess the craft of the perfume. The scent not relative to the base version says very little on whether the change made was an improvement or an unnecessary variation. My expectations were set especially high here, as the OG Blu has been my all time favourite since my first whiff.
The most significant difference is the addition of the Meroke oud. Both versions share little similarity in the opening. Blu v1's main purpose was the delicate showcase of ethereal, perfectly blended blue candy amiss beautiful spring-like flowers. Blu v2 however opens with unbalanced metallic/dark Meroke oud and civet, civet which felt unnecessary in v2 as its function shifts from blending florals to showcasing its ferality. In my opinion Blu v2's opening strips the very purpose of Blu, as no ethereal candy can be smelt at all (is rather warm). There is no sparkling sensation, no coldness, no blue.
Blu v2 however becomes mintier and 'blu-er', a gasp of fresh air. (Although the florals continue to be drowned by the Meroke oud.) The scent improves as it progresses. You start to catch whiffs of minty ethereal coldness. As it completely reaches the dry-down, the coldness is lost. However blue candy finally emerges and the Meroke oud dissipates. The candy is not hard or sour, rather an extremely sweet squishy blue gummy bear, which holds close resemblance to "Tibetan Musk | Ensar Oud / Oriscent". A pleasant smell for sure, but oh how I miss the hard candied ethereal sourness from Blu v1.

The scent itself is however, not relative to the OG, is extremely pleasing and, although the comparison must be weighed in. It changes a lot from opening to dry-down (much more than v1), and feels just more complex. Additionally, as I enjoy "Tibetan Musk | Ensar Oud / Oriscent", I love the candied smell in the dry-down. The OG Blu seems to create a necessity for me with v2, such as missing the florals and sourness that I would've otherwise never missed in Blu v2, stealing the glory from his brother. Blu v2 feels like an oud eclipse of the OG, drowning some of the facets I love.

I would've expected closer resemblance to the original, (especially as it was made so soon to v1 and counted with the addition of just Meroke oud) although by itself a good if not great perfume. The changes however to me felt more of a step-down than an improvement, and something like a wider range of florals or Vietnamese oud I believe would have worked better. Overall Meroke oud and civet into a sweet blue gummy bear (and slight mint).

Good, yet an eclipse of
Blu's greatness. A downgrade.
