Far Eastern spell with limitations.
Sakura sounds like the romantic title of a story from ancient Japan. The fragrance lives up to its name. It is not modern Japan that is celebrated here, but the shy smile, restraint as a principle, the celebration of the cherry blossom and yes, also the clichés that Nippon cultivates, as long as you - like me - have not yet been there.
From a banal point of view, it is a discreet but astonishingly expressive floral scent, to which no sweets have fortunately been added. Not the cherry jam, seasoned with the usual vanilla is offered to us, but actually the flowers, whose airy appearance is not only celebrated in Japan, but also in various Japanese gardens here in Europe. The movie "Hanami" certainly made its contribution. A little longing for cleanliness and a perfect world is already served, but that's okay with me. A blossom fragrance with the description "fragrant" still fits, you don't find that often. I must confess, however, that I cannot really recognize the rose or cherry blossoms. Especially since I've never consciously experienced the latter. Seen this way, the scent plays with the idea of it and less with the actual scent of the flowers. But he really did that.
I always have problems with flowery perfumes because they are often too heavy, too animalistic or too exotic. I would like to have Sakura in my collection if it wasn't a completely unnecessary "but". Why must this fine fragrance be offered in such oversized bottles? A barrel like this can only be emptied if you can either describe its contents as a signature scent and only wear it, or as a perfume you hope to get as many bottlings as possible to your wife or husband. Since neither one nor the other applies to me, it was nice to get to know Sakura, but that was it. Tested list and checked. That's too bad.
By the way, even if we preach like prayer mills that everyone should wear what they like: "I cannot imagine Sakura on men's skin with the best will in the world.
