Die unendliche Geschichte
Back in 1984, reading Bravo, a German music magazine, in my teenage room, listening to Limahl singing “Turn around - look at what you see-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee”, looking at the preview pictures from the film “The never ending Story”, wanting desperately to go to the movies and watch it. Ever been in this situation? Yes? You are a true 80s’ witness!
I remember going to library, borrowing the book written by Michael Ende, just because the movie did not play at the cinema yet. But at that time, I liked books just as much. They were my way to other worlds, experiences and feelings. I made friends in the stories, together with the characters; I felt the same way they did. Books were fascinating and fantasy generating.
Now back to the world of fragrance: Apparently, this fragrance is a never ending story. With new interpretations every second year it has been hard to keep track. I am not going to try every single one, because all-in-all Miss Dior Cherie is not really my thing. But the 2011 formula by Demachy I tend to like.
This is a very classic smell, green and citric in the beginning, rose, patchouli and a bit of jasmine in the heart, and finally sandalwood and amber in the base. I think Demachy did a good job transforming the original Nagel composition into a bit more mature style, more grown up. I admit that I am not the biggest fan of MDC 2005. The patchouli is slightly annoying, pushing my limit. This new combo has more rose and is a bit more feminine, rather than girly. But then again, I am way past my teens. So have a little patience with me.
The bottle design is simply beautiful. I love the pattern in the bottom. So needless and therefore so luxurious. The way it shows when on display. Charming…
Oh, by the way… Whatever happened to Kajagoogoo?

Miss Dior Cherie 2011
I finally tried this version out today. I was anxious to test it as I also have (and love) the new Miss Dior. I wanted to compare the two. I know there are many ladies that prefer this version as opposed to the new Miss Dior as many tend to love the fruity strawberry note in this one that is missing in the new Miss Dior. Going against popularity, I actually like the new Miss Dior better than this version of Miss Dior Cherie. I prefer the more unisex smelling Miss Dior with it's stronger patchouli over the sweeter (due to the strawberry) Miss Dior Cherie although I have to say it's probably because I'm a guy and the more masculine smelling one just suits my skin chemistry better. Miss Dior Cherie is nice though. It's still better than half of what's out there for women nowadays. Dior knows how to make a "mean" perfume! Now that this version is discontinued, the new version is still close enough to this one that you don't have to stop buying and wearing it altogether. Still, you should always try it out for yourself first before commiting to a full bottle as Dior prices are a reflection of their product (meaning it's not cheap!)

A Late Spark of Divinity
I find that the advertisement portrays the fragrance very well in images, this fruity-strawberry-freshness with a hint of mandarin, which smells of a little excitement and anticipation. The floral notes of jasmine and rose remind one of a walk in mild-warm temperatures. But above all, it smells very sensible and a bit too perfect. I have the association of a perfect woman, regardless of age, who always looks flawless, wears expensive, timelessly elegant clothing, and never makes a mistake. The fragrance suits a refined afternoon with girlfriends, all of whom have manicured nails, sitting in bright, impeccably furnished living rooms and never touching the perfectly crafted cupcakes.
"Miss Dior Chérie" shows no depth. The strawberry-jasmine-rose blend lingers too long, too cleanly. No question, the fragrance is of the finest kind and its expensive price is omnipresent as soon as you spray it, and it cannot be denied that the strawberry note smells very authentic and the fragrance is extremely pleasant.
But I miss the soul and the authenticity. Where do I find the woman that this fragrance represents? Exactly, only in perfectly lit, retouched perfume spots or glossy advertisements.

After some time, I like it better; patchouli joins the strawberry, and it smells delicious, a bit like strawberry champagne, more fizz, and more real fun in life.

Sweetness and feminity at the top in a pretty bottle with a good sillage. Discontinued but many characters are in the new miss dior edp

Strawberry powder puff pick-me girl wants to please at all costs.
But for that, she has to sell her natural soul for artificial sweetness.*

The miss is growing up. Out with the popcorn bag and in with the red strawberry lips. Fruity elegant, patchouli grounds the sweetness.

Wild strawberries dance into spring!
Chilled strawberry sparkling wine tingles on the lips.
Patch, wood, and moss give the sweetness
a bit of depth.

Sweet, fruity, feminine - an enchanting scent, somewhere between innocence and seduction. I'm so wild for your strawberry mouth...

Sweet, floral-fruity, almost childish; creamy green oak moss prevents it from slipping into the mundane candy-like.
Fruit + oak moss somewhat resembles Nomade.

Squeaky synthetic fruit, soapiness, and a bitter patchouli base. The advertising was 100 times better than the scent.

It was a gift from my first boyfriend, now it's a bit too sweet and citrusy for me, but still a very good, deep women's fragrance.

It's not sweet at all, the scent isn't very floral and totally reminds me of Jadore.
