Die unendliche Geschichte
Back in 1984, reading Bravo, a German music magazine, in my teenage room, listening to Limahl singing “Turn around - look at what you see-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee”, looking at the preview pictures from the film “The never ending Story”, wanting desperately to go to the movies and watch it. Ever been in this situation? Yes? You are a true 80s’ witness!
I remember going to library, borrowing the book written by Michael Ende, just because the movie did not play at the cinema yet. But at that time, I liked books just as much. They were my way to other worlds, experiences and feelings. I made friends in the stories, together with the characters; I felt the same way they did. Books were fascinating and fantasy generating.
Now back to the world of fragrance: Apparently, this fragrance is a never ending story. With new interpretations every second year it has been hard to keep track. I am not going to try every single one, because all-in-all Miss Dior Cherie is not really my thing. But the 2011 formula by Demachy I tend to like.
This is a very classic smell, green and citric in the beginning, rose, patchouli and a bit of jasmine in the heart, and finally sandalwood and amber in the base. I think Demachy did a good job transforming the original Nagel composition into a bit more mature style, more grown up. I admit that I am not the biggest fan of MDC 2005. The patchouli is slightly annoying, pushing my limit. This new combo has more rose and is a bit more feminine, rather than girly. But then again, I am way past my teens. So have a little patience with me.
The bottle design is simply beautiful. I love the pattern in the bottom. So needless and therefore so luxurious. The way it shows when on display. Charming…
Oh, by the way… Whatever happened to Kajagoogoo?
