Acid Drops
Now that's a sour one! Diptyque's Oyédo starts with so much fruity acidity that Center Shocks in the raspberry flavor seem ridiculously tame next to it. After the sour opening settles a bit, things get tangy and tart. Fresh, cold-washed yuzus and tangerines are broken open before our eyes, splashing their tart essential oils over the herbs at their feet. Meanwhile, the sweet juice of ripe raspberries runs over the delicate leaves of thyme, creating a most interesting mix of fruity and herbaceous notes. The combination of tart citrus, fruity sweetness and the ethereal hint of herbs refreshes and soothes body and mind at the same time. Over time, the tart undertone fades and it remains a slightly fruity and herbaceous something on the skin and lingers there for a few hours until it finally disappears completely.
The parallels drawn here to detergents, vinegar and toilet cleaners I can definitely understand. Even though I didn't realize the similarity until I studied the comments and statements. My first impression went (as already described above) rather in the direction of a fruity-sour fragrance with a calming effect, even if it is first of all the but very sour prelude to get over.
In my eyes, Diptyques Oyédo is not a bad fragrance. Who is looking for a relaxing refreshment for the hot days, could perhaps be found here.
