Tricky Blue
First this does not remind me of a shower gel, or actually any other cologne. It is its own thing. It has a lot of fragrance notes and they work together well. This is not a sweet syrupy fragrance, opens with a blast of citrus and spice as it dries down through the mid more florals are present and the fig starts making it creamier, but there is still that green in the background. Finally as we hit the base it remains creamy but some nice woodenness is there.

In conclusion, this is a solid release and it is a designer so as most there will be more synthetic oils, but this is true with most designers. I get about 8 hours of performance with about a 3 foot sillage for and hour or so. But you still are noticeable in closer encounters, like 1 foot for the remaining time. Also very versatile could be worn most places any time of the year!

The only one that comes near this to me is Banana Republic Vintage green, there are not the same just a little similar. For be this gets a solid 8 for me.

Spicy and Woody
K perfume starts with a freshness bomb, involving citrus notes like blood orange ,lemon and cardamom that quickly evolves to a wonderful fruity, spicy with a touch of floral and clean vibe. It’s dry-down to a masculine woody base.

The fragrance performance is amazing, I get more than 8 hours easily with it on my clothes and skin. The Sillage is also amazing.

Synthetic but a nice scent
I only like 2 (maybe 3) designer/mall perfume brands. Dolce & Gabbana being my favorite. It just is. It’s nothing outstanding, it’s simple and it works for me. I first tested K by Dolce & Gabbana EDT in a store and instantly liked. Then I compared to the EDP to the EDT, I and definitely like the EDP better. The opening is deep freshness with Blood Orange, lemon, and cardamom. During the first 45 minutes, you get fiery hot peppery note that becomes less intense. Also, the juniper berry starts off loud and tones down after about 45 minutes, but still very noticeable. I like the creamy fig note—it could be a tad creamier in my opinion.

Lavender, Geranium, and clary sage are in the heart notes that support the fragrance and gives it that fresh aromatic scent, especially the lavender having a fresh, clean scent. I’m going to stray off and say that “lavender is under-appreciated by some folks”

I haven’t put K to the ultimate test, but I believe the longevity is going to average at best. I’ve been wearing EDP K on my wrist for 2 hours. I’m going by the 1-spray on the wrist analysis. So, we’ll see. I’m not disappointed in my purchase of a 50 ml bottle. I love the scent. Overall, I think it’s a bit under appreciated. I do understand why people think and say what they say about this fragrance. It’s fair. I still like the fragrance.

What. A. Charmer.
I'll be honest: when I test-sprayed this on my testing surface (after blind-buying it, due to a great sale), I kind of thought I'd been had by a gimmicky bottle and internet hype again (looking at you, UltraRed). All I got from it was "Dylan Blue, slightly modernised" - so, I shrugged it off as a "safe summer smell," and then I tested a couple of other new arrivals I'd got that day. Somewhere along the way, the dry-down of K EDP was lost to the overpowering grapefruit of Light Blue Forever lingering in my nose, and I just stuck it up on the shelf, figuring I'd give it a go when it got a little warmer.

One morning, however, I was unsure what to wear out of my new arrivals, so I passed the decision-making on to my best friend, who has a rare talent for making random selections from my collection that turn out to be exactly what I needed to be wearing that day. I sent her a pic of the new bottles, and she chose K - and, as per her M.O., she really hit it out of the park.

--

On the first skin spray, I let it sit for a second, sniffed, and got back the same olfactory data as I had off my non-skin test. So, working with the mindset of "slightly softer and more modern Dylan Blue", I gave myself about 10 sprays and went about my business.

10 minutes passed.

Suddenly, I found myself doing the "investigative sniff" manoeuvre, because I was getting a waft of something vaguely spicy in the air. Immediately, my mind jumped to these "guarana and chilli" nicotine pouches that I favour, and I thought I'd left the tin for those open - but that was not the case. So, I opened the tin to see if I was somehow smelling it through the plastic... and as my hand was en route to my nose, I caught a whiff of my arm, and immediately followed it with a deeper sniff. Lo and behold, K had evolved, opening up a bit, and in doing so, had become properly intriguing.

--

Having now smelled my way through the whole scent evolution an untold number of times, I have to say, D&G really pulled off something special here. The opening is almost pure Dylan Blue, and that impression lingers over the top of it. Then, the fig and citrus come out to play, and it takes on a bit of an Acqua di Gio Profondo vibe, with a touch of green to it. And then, at about the 10-15 minute mark, the chilli/pimento note settles in - just under the blue top, just above the cedar/vetiver/patchouli base - and WOW, does it ever work.

Sweet blue/green citrus, over masculine florals and subtle heat, all atop a base of clean woods. The note breakdown looks illogical, but the end product is just fantastic. My only minor quibbles with it are (1) that the drydown on clothes smells a little soapy - but it smells great on the skin, so that's fine - and (2) that it does cause one to go slightly anosmic to it - but that seems to be all the rage in perfumery these days, and if I put nose-to-skin, I can still smell it just fine - so it's barely an inconvenience.

Tl;dr: It's an actually unique blue. If you see it for a good price, absolutely grab it.

The Perfectly Fitting White Shirt
In search of a new daily fragrance for the office, I came across the then-new K EdP in 2020.
My requirement: something unobtrusive, that doesn't tint the air in the entire meeting room, yet is perceived by my immediate seat neighbors as pleasantly clean and well-groomed.

K EdP has fulfilled this requirement for me better than any other fragrance in my collection to this day. If you are looking to draw attention and seek exciting complexity, this is the wrong choice.

K does not profile itself; it is the logical extension of the clean textile scent of a white shirt worn by a freshly showered man. I would go so far as to claim that in everyday life it doesn't even stand out as a perfume scent. Instead, it creates that very impression of cleanliness on the other person.

And the white shirt is also the perfect analogy for this fragrance: when it fits well, most people probably won't even notice it. Even the best tailored shirt is rarely the eye catcher in a well-coordinated outfit. However, if it doesn't fit well, it still ruins the perfect suit.

K sits perfectly on my skin. In a one-on-one meeting, it does not compete with the content topics for my conversation partner's attention. Instead, it sets the baseline and conveys seriousness and clarity.

Many reviews revolve around the idea that K is a boring, synthetic shower gel scent. Upon closer analysis, that may be true, and in that context, the rather low ratings are understandable to me.

But K is not a fragrance to be analyzed closely. It is so good in its effect and precisely for that reason so perfect as a daily in business, because it disappears into the perfect synthesis of clean skin (shower gel) and clean clothing (laundry detergent), allowing it to work all the better. Applied in the early morning to my head, wrist, and shirt, it remains pleasantly perceptible to me throughout the day.

A Prada L'Homme also evokes clean laundry, but it never manages to integrate nearly as well and, even when applied sparingly, still seeks attention.

Be aware of what you want: if you can align with my requirements, K EdP is a clear buy recommendation. The context is as important with this fragrance as with almost no other in my collection.

I find this a lot nicer than the EDT, this is smoother & richer. I'm a sucker for blood orange and it's very nice here. Not bad at all.

K EDP is quite pleasant but boring. Opens with a woody fig accord and dries down to a similar version of the EDT but smoother and better.

Finally understand what “blue fragrance” means. Yes synthetic, but refreshing. The hate for this one is forced. Bf likes it and I do too.
