Unsweet Strawberry with Basil in Green Tea
This fragrance has only recently become available for purchase online, and only from a single retailer. Impatient and curious as I am, I ordered it blindly. The strawberry in the opening is not at all squeaky or sticky; instead, the basil comes through right away. It reminds me of strawberries that have been used in a salad rather than in a dessert. It doesn’t smell edible at all; it’s definitely not a gourmand. Later, the strawberry clearly takes a back seat. The original green tea DNA remains in connection with the basil. The strawberry then plays a minor role. To be honest, it could also be labeled "Aqua Allegoria" and have a correspondingly higher price; it is really beautifully crafted and also complex and interestingly balanced. Therefore, I have to keep testing it, as different notes become more pronounced with each test. I haven’t formed a final judgment for myself yet, but objectively speaking, I find the fragrance an absolute hit, especially in its price category. But honestly, in a blind test, I would have easily placed it in the niche category. The longevity is better for me than with "Green Tea Pistachio Crunch | Elizabeth Arden." Unfortunately, I don’t particularly like basil or kitchen herbs as notes in fragrances, so I probably won’t be adding this scent to my collection permanently. However, it’s great that we finally have an unsweet strawberry. In the drydown, the green tea really comes through nicely, but here it is drier and more powdery than, for example, in Green Tea Coconut Breeze or "Green Tea Pistachio Crunch | Elizabeth Arden." I think it’s really well done, and those who usually find strawberry too sweet and gourmand in fragrances will appreciate this one.
