Chapeau! A noble water.
Experimentum Crucis became the second fragrance I tested in the ELDO anniversary series.
And I must say, chapeau! I am positively surprised.

What a beauty this fragrance is!

Scent pyramid in my head I expected everything else than what this scent actually is! What I expected was a lovely fruit rose scent that drifts in a mainstream direction (smelled about 1000 times) through fruit and patches. Nothing of the sort is the case.

First minutes after spraying the perfume still smells sweetly fruity and rosy. Litchi comes out, in my opinion, very well in the first minutes. Very nice and pleasant, girlish I would say, but nothing unusual yet. And here comes the big but!

The fragrance settles on my skin as the most exquisite, noble, subtle, balanced skin scent I have ever smelled!

The description "cream powder" is the most likely to apply to him. Outside in windy weather, the fragrance has a cool and cooling effect on the skin, it appears subtly green, as if a very discreetly creamy rose and some herbs under a wafer-thin layer of mochus were involved. Inside, it looks a bit warmer, as if powdered iris is also involved (but perhaps this warmth is generated by patchouli, which has been applied very subtly here. (At least in my feeling).

This fragrance is the play of the most subtle shades. Always appropriate, never boring. Like a cool silk on your skin. He never screams, he seduces!
All components are super blended with each other, so that one has rather a total work of art in front of one's nose, from which one can hardly smell the single components (and yes, the scent is quite linear).

A fragrance for well-groomed people who don't want to burden anyone with their scent, but still have an incredibly attractive and subtle scent aura around them. A fragrance for notorious Chanel (e.g. no. 19 Poudre, which I like very much). Porters, it seems to me. 100% office suitable and suitable for all seasons.

The shelf life is truly great (all day), the silage is rather discreet to very close, the bottle and presentation a feast for the eyes!

A fragrance to fall in love and melt away!

The rose gives honey to the bees
Sweet rose. Right at the start after an alcohol surge. Then a tone is added, apple and lychee presumably, which in combination with the rose looks like burnt rubber. Burned gum in a fruity/floral way. This impression soon goes back to making room for caraway - together with rose. In this phase it reminds a little of Lumiere Noire from MFK, also because Patchouli might already have been visible subliminally. In addition there is a slightly animal/erotic note. One always thinks in the first moment "ah, only rose" and then immediately, when one gets involved only a little, one perceives much more. The woods then ground the rose fragrance. Also here a parallel to Lumiere noire.

EC works differently on (my) skin than on a test strip. The rose is dominant on the skin only later, the fruit parts appear stronger and more acidic at the beginning, the burnt rubber note remains longer. The rose also appears "sharper" and less sweet. Here I also recognize the reason of sweetness and animalism - it is honey with musk.

I like this fragrance, a lot. It is engaging, iridescent and fruity warm in all its rosiveness. Tendentiell sometimes so flowery-sweet that I see him more on ladies than on gentlemen, but if I had to classify him he would be unisex ;)

Autumn/winter, going out/evening would be the main classification for me, but except in the extreme heat you can wear it whenever you want. The durability is however rather small, even if again and again a "breath" is to be heard.

Finally I would like to go into the thoughts I had while testing the fragrance. The name and the reference to Newton are already striking. Yeah, there's a little apple that's supposed to have fallen on his head and so on. But basically it is an unconventional rose-honey wood scent with a light coconut note. But when I now connect the rose with the "cross" of the perfume name I come ... on the Rosicrucians, which had as symbol a rose among other things at the (wood) cross. The Rosicrucians call "knowledge" among other things honey, which they want to gain from the rose on the cross ... one of her aphorisms is "Dat rosa mel apibus" - "The rose gives honey to the bees". - Now also the Rosicrucians know/knew that the rose supplies only nectar, and the bees themselves produce the honey - this is the covert task for the spiritual man to bring about new works and a transformation of mankind from the mystical truths. And so Etat Libre D'Orange writes on her website about the fragrance: "we have tried to create a fragrance that will change the world."

Maybe just thoughts overexcited with the scent of roses? Well possible! But: Newton was (most likely) Rosicrucian ;)

Bisch's interpretation of a rose... not everyday
Rose fragrances are not everyone's cup of tea, I would say. In any case, the rose is a symbol of love, especially red roses. And what man gets a bouquet of roses as a present from his sweetheart? Exceptions prove the rule...

But here it's different, probably because I recognize my beloved Quentin Bisch signature in it. Quentin Bisch fragrances à la Ganymede Eau de Parfum, Masa or Bois Impérial, among others, are characterized for me by a mixture of natural fragrance notes paired with a certain pleasing synthetics, which nevertheless appears high-quality and sophisticated and leaves a lasting impression.

This is also the case here: The striking, fruity top notes of sweet lychee and juicy green apple paired with the slightly pungent spiciness of cumin followed by a powerful 'Rosa damascena' dipped in honey on a bed of musk, patchouli and Akigalawood - which form the base notes in both Ganymede and Masa and therefore the intersection - unite opposing accords to create a beguiling and harmonious fragrance experience.
In this respect, the name 'Experimentum Crucis' is also very well chosen.

Some Quentin Bisch fragrances seem to have been created according to this 'knitting pattern', I would argue, and that is why they stand out from the crowd - even within the niche.
Of course, his fragrances also polarize, but that makes them all the more interesting and unique.

While the Ganymede Eau de Parfum, B683 Eau de Parfum or Bois Impérial will appeal more to male buyers, I can see this one appealing more to the female target group. Of course, it remains a unisex fragrance, but the tendency is clearly towards femininity. In any case, I'm torn as to whether I'll stick with the original sample or whether I'll buy a bottle after all.

Definitely fascinating and worth a try. In terms of H/S and P/L, you also get a good deal.

All in all, worthy of note and, in my opinion, undervalued.

Different and special rose perfume
Mmm... I think this is a very interesting perfume. The protsgonist is the rose, but It is a different rose, this is not the typical rose based scent. Here the rose is blended with patchouli, fruits and musk. The patchouli un this fragance is not very intense but subtle and delicate. The fruits and the honey give tinte perfume some sweetness. It is interessant the presente le the lychee.
The performance is as in the other etat libre d'orange fragances that i have tried. About 6-8 hours but with a soft projection. It seems an intense scent at opening but then fades out and becomes a skin scent. By the way It is a special and different perfume, unisex and better for day time use.

Successful Experimentum
It was a blind buy in my case which I don t recommend in this case ot any other. But thanks God, it was a succesful one. I was a bit disappointed innthe start, when I smelled for 10 minutes a soft rose with some talcum, something like Pomellato Nudo Rose. The start has nothing to do with this beautiful, haunting name - Experimentum Crucis. But the.more it developes on the skin, the more it provides interesting deep notes like cumin,, somthing woody and a beautiful mosc in the end. It is not exactely as dramatic as I was hoping for, but it is beautiful and interesting. Nothing oriental in it and happily no oud.
The sillage is good, longevity very good for 4 hours. The bottle is also interesting. Test it before!

A nasty rubbery opening, an overly metallic-powdery mid and a forgettable ending. Other than that, it is a perfectly fine apple-rose-chouli

Cumin, musk, and patchouli sounds like a disaster, but it works if you don't hate these notes.

Tires. I am just getting tires. But not in a wholly unpleasant way? My spouse liked it on me so I will probably hand this tester over to him

A rose scent that feels sombre to me. It has some bitterness too it, possibly from cumin. Most potent of the ELDO scents I have tried.

Beautiful rose scent on the more ''masculine'' side. This perfume undoubtedly gives off a luxurious spa/hotel lobby feel.
