Sublime fragrance
I've tried this in every season now, and it was good across the board but best in spring/ fall.
The blackcurrant note hangs for a long time and reminds me of Polo Red Parfum in terms of muted fruitiness. I when I wear Floris, it's because I want to wear something unique, but not something that makes me a challenge to be around. This fits that bill. Sillage and staying power are in the range that I desire (like Goldilocks- not too strong, not too weak). The dry-down is lovely as I can pick up the tea & pepper, leading to a pleasant, sweet, woody scent as it becomes more of a skin scent. The best is at the end of the day when I change out of my work clothes and get a woosh of the scent that was still in the clothes. Like finishing the creamy head of a Guinness at the end of a pint.
I gave the pricing a 5 because in the States at $300 a 100ml bottle, it is very much a luxury. But I was able to get a 10ml to test it out and found a 100ml for a very good discount that put it in the range of other designer brands.

A bit underwehelmed
When you hear about a special edition, created to celebrate a certain event, you hopes are high and expectations also.

At least this is what I think when I look at what the celebration of the Platinum Jubilee:

"On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth."
https://www.royal.uk/platinum-jubilee-central-weekend

When I got my samples from Floris I was very happy to try them both, this one and the 007 .. because they are very well connected to the British culture, I would say.

This one, has a nice Iris base and it reminds me of DIOR Homme Original .. but a bit more "classy" I can say. However, that is not going to last long because the scent will fly away very fast.

For the amount of €€ they ask for this scent, I think it is hard to justify purchasing a bottle, so unless you want to have a piece of "history" marking the Jubilee of the Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, I have no other good reasons to consider this scent a good buy.

Ah, simply exquisite! A fragrance truly befitting of the finest circles - utterly refined and delightfully regal in every note.*
The owner family of Floris London can look back on over 300 years of family and company history in its ninth generation. With the Royal Warrant first granted in 1820, Floris almost has a little noble title. The connections to the British royal family continue to this day. The fragrance creation is said to have originated from a visit of the Floris team to Windsor Castle and its gardens.

Platinum 22 was launched in 2022 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's reign. And as it should be, this fragrance does not come dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, but rather wears a three-piece suit - made of the finest iris, of course.

The scent starts with a delicate citrus note that greets you warmly, as is fitting for British politeness. Bergamot and black pepper awaken the senses, but then the iris enters the room - and suddenly it becomes noble. This floral scent has little to do with the bouquet on grandmother's windowsill. This iris has style. It is powdery, slightly sweet, and so grounded that you almost feel it comes wrapped in velvet. Violets and a hint of rose wave briefly, but the true highlight remains the iris. And then, just when you feel comfortable in this floral cloud, amber, musk, and vetiver come into play to fix everything on the skin - because this fragrance won’t leave your side anytime soon. Unmistakable are also the notes of black tea, which prove to be quite enduring.

Floris Platinum 22 is like one imagines a dinner with the Windsors during Queen Elizabeth's time: fine, elegant, and seasoned with a touch of tradition. This fragrance does not take the liberty of being as loud as the also iris-focused Dior Homme or as mysterious as Iris Silver Mist - but it doesn’t need to be. It is the epitome of classic nobility, perfect for lovers of iris who are not looking for adventurousness, but rather a safe, elegant companion for special occasions. For me, who has always struggled with the powderiness of iris, it is a surprisingly successful and wearable scent.

The fragrance is marketed as unisex. Throughout the scent development, I occasionally felt that it leans slightly towards the masculine, then again slightly towards the feminine. But perhaps what makes a good unisex fragrance is precisely that it plays with boundaries.

*) Please read the headline with a distinctly British accent, with a slightly affected tone and nasal voice, so that my intention of a royal demeanor comes across ;)

Very helpful Review 14
Not my FLORIS…..
One thing should be made clear from the start: this is quite a sweet fragrance that I personally place close to the realm of the "edible".....

Nevertheless, one can find the commonly very popular "lipstick iris" here….and for fans of that note, this fragrance is definitely worth a try..!!

However, I do not belong to the "lipstick iris" enthusiasts myself…..therefore, my enthusiasm is somewhat limited…..

Nonetheless - and this should be explicitly emphasized - PLATINUM 22 succeeds excellently in being what it wants to be: a contemporary, sweet lipstick iris fragrance based on synthetic wood, amber, and tonka……a mainstream scent, so to speak, that likely aims to appeal to those for whom Floris has been too classic so far……

However, I strongly doubt that Queen Elizabeth II, for whose Platinum Jubilee this fragrance was created, would wear such a perfume……if a royal were to wear it, then probably Meghan…….definitely at least a younger person who has already been "scent-socialized" with synthetic fragrance materials and has a higher tolerance for them than I do…….perhaps she might even actually like it……

PLATINUM 22 initially starts with a rather zesty lime-currant opening that pleasantly invigorates the iris that appears immediately afterward……

The sour aspects of the fruits are softened by a gentle oat note, giving the fragrance at this point a slightly "edible" quality, in my opinion…..

As we move into the heart note, a decent pinch of primarily peppery spice joins in……at the same time, a considerable amount of synthetic variety wafts up from the depths of the base…..

At this point, PLATINUM 22 becomes for me personally a completely banal, ubiquitous scent that one currently perceives everywhere…….

It is this constantly repeating and found in so many newer fragrances synthetic wood, amber, tonka (sometimes also vanilla) base that simply bores me by now…….not to mention that I do not like it….

My personal rating is about 5…….generally, however, I would say that the fragrance could find appeal among younger perfume lovers and will likely settle somewhere around 8…….

Therefore: 8+5=13 / 13:2=6.5

Creamy, smooth and sweet, does kind of smell like oats in vanilla milk. Quite simple overall, too sweet for my liking, but quite pleasant.

Oh yes, it has something special, a modern interpretation of traditional monarchy, elegant, subtle tea scent enhanced by pepper and delicate iris...

Velvety wood, fine fruit, and later soft smoky notes. Great for autumn/winter. I can't name a specific scent note.

Wow, this one is nice.
Sweet tea scent, woody with a lovely pencil-like iris.
It would be even better if it were a bit less sweet!

Creamy-sweet porridge with berries & Earl Grey turns into a rather cool, iris veil with woody hints (a bit of sweet oat remains too)

Fine lipstick iris on oat cushions, sourly framed by jobberry. And then the nasty synthetic monster arrives with the fake wood club.

Noble like platinum, yet without British restraint. Fruity jobberry, creamy iris, and warm black tea. Floris in a different way.

So far, I haven't discovered an authentic tea scent and I don't smell it here either. For me, the iris is the most prominent.
