Shabby Chic Giardini di Toscana

Oh, wow.

While visiting my favorite fragrance emporium this evening I overheard a salesperson talking with another customer about this line. She mentioned that Shabby Chic was the wedding perfume of another salesperson, and I wascurious so I had to sample.

Just when you are thinking you have no more room for any florals, you come across something like this. This is not particularly long lasting, so it has a huge strike against it, but this scent….this is really lovely (I can’t pull any of the notes, though I wouldn’t be surprised if orange blossom is present…maybe not, though.) This one needs a skin test at some point.

Thought I had smelled this fragrance somewhere and then I realised I have: smells like cheap drugstore product. Like that generic peony and rose body wash or body lotion that's on discount. Nothing wrong with drugstore or cheap products, but to put a pricepoint this high for a niche product? Yeah, nah.

It smells like peonies and roses. Sweet, floral and watered down. They have a distinctive synthetic freshness to it that's a no for me. I wouldn't call this shabby chic, more like everyday, discounted. As it moves on, the synthetic freshness absolutely obliterates the flowers that already had difficulties surviving on my skin. I do start getting some far away muskiness and a hint of woodiness, but if you're not paying attention and checking out the notes of this fragrance, the synthetic freshness remains the champion. Has skin-scent performance and doesn't radiate out very much.

Forgettable and definitely not something you want to buy at this price point. There are loads of better peonies and rose fragrances out there at much better pricepoints and with less synthetic freshness to it. I've smelled better peony and rose designer fragrances than this niche version. Hard pass for me.

The meaning of shabby chic is "scruffy elegant" or a style that apparently seems neglected and old, but in reality is cared to the smallest details. A romantic style often used in Provençal country houses, very popular in recent times.
This fragrance is clean, if it had to be a color I would define it as white, with a vintage background that further enriches it.
Very pleasant, spring-like, fresh. I would really like to wear it.

... large greenhouse in the section with the roses. I am currently overwhelmed by the scent of these flowers. With so many roses, I can't really smell them anymore. Quite a shame.

When applying this fragrance, the first thing that hits you is the scent of roses. These are supported by other floral notes and more roses. There's also a hint of woodiness. The musk adds a powdery and creamy quality to this perfume. This fragrance from the brand is, in contrast to the other scents I know, rather boring.

The longevity and sillage are good.

Here we have a scent that can be worn well from around 16 years old. However, I see it more suited for women than for men. So I believe that young men would be less excited about this fragrance. But what do I know? Everyone should wear what they like. It is a discreet perfume that can be worn both at school, university, or in the office, as well as in leisure time, while shopping, in the evening at a bar, club, or during dinner. You won't stand out with this scent.

If you enjoy a rose, floral woody fragrance that is unobtrusive, you might be just right here.
