My son was born…
And so were Dali signature, Hermes 24Faubourg, Gucci Accenti, Burberry for Women, Rochas Byzantine, Dior Dolce Vita, Lancôme Poême… what a year!
Add to this the birth of Grès Cabochard, the reformulation. I have the original EdT from 1959, which is so gorgeous. But I had the EdP from 1995 first. It has been treasured and loved. It was one of my first Chypres, from the time before I knew it was a Chypre. Or what a Chypre was. I have a personal category for fragrances like Cabochard: Chalkies. Because that is what they are: pure chalk.
In a good way.
Actually, in a great way.
Yes, there are flowery note notes. And there are spicy notes. And green as well. But the overall expression in my nose is chalk. I love it. Probably in a way that very few will understand. The dryness is magnificent and all-consuming.
Cabochard 1995 is a queen. An elegant lady. A well dressed Madame.
