Eternal Spring

It is a shame that this beauty is discontinued. Among Guerlain's Aqua Allegorias, it has a favorite spot as a lighthearted and dainty fragrance. What would I do without it?
The carnation note comes through early and lasts a while ... Ylang is definitely there. The softness of vanilla carries the scent to a lasting dry down.
Simplicity, nothing big, but very elegant.
A daytime scent, a bit too strong for office wear, it WILL be noticed.
One of Guerlain's finest ...

A Darker, Unsweetened Vanilla Perfume

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Ylang & Vanille was one of the early members of the Aqua Allegoria series, launched pre-Y2K, and the superior quality of the composition witnesses this fact. Although I do not wear Ylang & Vanille all that often, I find that it is a nice change from the ubiquitous sweet vanilla fragrances which have become more and more popular of late.

AA Ylang & Vanille offers a darker presentation of vanilla, but not in the sense of being more concentrated and potent in vanilla itself. Instead, ylang-ylang imparts a dark quality to the vanilla, making this perfume more of a floriental than a gourmand perfume. The jasmine, too, is detectable to my nose, but the ylang-ylang is far more prominent.

This creation smells especially nice as it heats up on the skin under a sweater collar. The closest composition to this one, of those which I've tried, is Hermès Hermessence Vanille Galante, which, too, is more a floral than a gourmand creation. However, I find Ylang & Vanille to be more of a pleasure to wear, as it seems harmonious and never jarring from start to finish.

I feel fortunate to have acquired one of the limited edition bottles of this appealing perfume, a relic of Guerlain's glorious past.

No surprises.

Oh, I wish I could write something substantive and important in this review, but in this fragrance, what you see is what you get. Ylang. And. Vanille.

The vanilla provides a richness, a creaminess to the ylang. It's a Guerlain, so it is quality stuff, and rather long-lasting for an edt, but really, that's all. I get no carnation, and very little jasmine. Just ylang. And. Vanille.
