Gorgeous drydown

First of all I could just smell the citrus, but it was not so sharp, rather like an exclusive and mouthwatering marmalade, a bit like caramelized lemon if it makes sense. After a while the iris and jasmine stepped in, accompanied by a lovely vanilla. It was not until two hours later the rose was noticeable to my nose.Such a lovely drydown! I must reluctantly admit to myself that this fragrance is just as beautiful as Parfum Initial. In my opinion Eau de Shalimar is suitable for all occasions, both everyday and festive. Long-lasting on the skin.
Highly recommended to all vanilla lovers.

Edible Mr Sheen

The first spray of Shalimar is true to notes, tangy lemon smoothed into a powdery gourmand by way of vanilla and jasmine. Orange is here but it's riding along in the back seat, kindly adding just a touch of tart sweetness.
I've spent hours memorising the zingy top notes, waiting for the mellow, muted heart and then reapplying. The overall effect is joyous and eminently edible, a real mood-lifter.
After many enjoyable spritzes, I have finally put my finger on what it reminds me of:
In Australia we have an aerosol spray furniture polish called Mr Sheen, complete with iconic jingle. It's been around since the 50's and any house that has well kept antique wooden furniture tends to have an underlying waft of it... while potent, it's a pleasant, comforting smell.

Swansdown Vanilla

A soft, warm, fluffy cloud of vanilla lifted in the opening notes by gentle citrus. Eau de Shalimar is a real comfort scent for me and very easy to wear. In fact, I can't think of anywhere or anytime it would be inappropriate. Winter, summer, day or evening, dressed up or casual. Perfect!

Shalimar Cake (with recipe)

"Let them eat cake" The utterance is attributed to Marie Antoinette upon hearing that the peasants were rioting due to the scarcity of bread. Let's attribute it, equally falsely, to Jean Paul Guerlain. Boil a lb of sultanas for five minutes, strain off water and allow half a pound of chopped butter and three quarter pound of sugar to melt in the hot fruit. Let it cool to tepid. Add 1 tsp each of almond essence, your best Madagascar vanilla essence and lemon essence and a pinch of salt. Breathe in the perfume of Eau de Shalimar. Yes, it's the batter. Add three well beaten large eggs together with three quarter lb of standard flour and a tsp of Baking Powder. Lift your perfume bottle high in the air and spritz it three times.( assuming there are no babies present) Bake in two loaf tins or one large extendable one in a moderate oven for 1 and a half hours. When cold serve with a pot of Earl Grey tea in an elegant salon similar to the one I saw Jean Paul interviewed in when the BBC screened their Perfume Series. You and the cake will be as one, better than sex, better than perfume alone

a beauty for shure

Oh sweet heaven :) i just got this in the mail today . what a beautiful treat . i simply love this. so bright, citrus lime whit a touch off sugery sweetnes. a real candy. the vanilla makes this so delicios.. I have heard and read that this is supossed to be the same as the Eau de Shalimar , only limited bottle . Well .. I disagree.:) this is much more about sweetness and vanilla, then the eau de shalimar..
and the notes listed are infact different. In Eau de shalimar there is Iris and Resin , This i can not pick up at all in this special edition. i did not care to much about this notes in the original when i ones owned it. But now i nead to get another bottle off it to find out closly:)
This is a realy soft take on Shalimar . I can feal i tiny hint off the original , but not to much . well it is closer to the edp then edt anyway. I am so so ower the moon happy about this one .
if there is a tiny down fall to this it is a bit weak.. not as strong as the other shalimars . But sprayed on clouds aswell this is a lovely thing for shure

Vintage: Summer Shali with more citrus thanks to lime, closer to the original.
2008: Less citrusy, but with additional powdery, soapy notes.

It has the original DNA,

Lovely and powdery, with a citrus opening. Shalimar is noticeable, but the oriental and smoky notes are missing. Beautiful, but a bit too tame for me.
