Sparkling cherry on leathery oud
Even though I'm a big Guerlain fan, I was a bit sceptical if I would like this. When it was new I read some reviews that said it was more masculine leaning, which is usually not my taste. Also cherry is such a omnipresent note right now that I feel exhausted from it. But I still try a lot of cherry scents.
Luckily Cherry Oud was one of them, and I love it! It smells just like the name implies. Cherries and oud, and a bit of rose. The cherry is sweet, sparkling and juicy, it reminds me of the cherry note used in the LPRN line. This could be a LPRN oud flanker, now that I think about it. Too bad it isn't, it would be more affordable if it was... The Black Perfetto editions are not the same, this is deeper and darker.
Anyways, the cherry is blended with a lovely dewy rose note that isn't too heavy and supports the freshness of the cherry. The base is warm and leathery. The oud is noticeable, but also quite close to the leather. To my nose it's neither too dirty, nor too sharp, scratchy or sterile. Even though this is a rather simple scent notes-wise, it has a mysterious vibe to it, maybe because cherry and oud aren't a common combination. The final drydown after many hours is a creamy-woodsy scent that still has hints of cherry and rose on top.
Oh, and I find this unisex to slightly feminine leaning, just like the votes on this site suggest.
