Effervescent sparkling with berries and lychee
I'm quite scared when I read the short comments on this fragrance...! Since it turns around armpit sweat, menopause etc... Disgusting it hardly goes.
My experience with the youngest Twilly child: in the department store, all around me lots of people who spray themselves with heavy fragrances, a lot of sweet stuff, oud and plastic. Twilly-neu looks at me, winks pink and flirts with the little bow. Ohhh..., try!
It bounces and sings, fizzes, refreshes, a tart effervescent sweetness, I want more and fear the happiness will end quickly. More spirited sprays, how wonderful. Around me: Mhhh, what is that? Two young ladies are standing a few meters away. "Is that you?", I am asked. "What is that? It's delicious!", "Yes, so pleasant, sweetish, fruity, fresh! Does it last?". I run out, half an hour later in the vestibule of a bench: "But it smells delicious here.... You wear a fantastic fragrance!", comments a gentleman behind me in the queue.
Hermes can be sometimes "bitchy", it depends probably strongly on the skin chemistry.

A crime against lychee
When I saw the low ratings and the very negative first statements about Tutti Twilly on German Parfumo, I was scared. Then I tried it quickly on a blotter in a store and liked it. Now I was scared that I would maybe love this and smell bad to others.
So I got a sample.
And now I completely understand the negativity around this release. I have no idea what I was smelling in store, but on my skin, this is really pretty awful.

It smells like an extremely out of touch old persons idea of a young person. Imagine a green floral perfume that was deemed appropriate for young ladies 50 years ago and stood in a dusty basement ever since. Not turned, but stale and lifeless. Now imagine someone took this and added some lychee to update it, because they thought kids nowadays obviously love fruity notes. And that's it.

I call this a crime against lychee. The lychee note is actually quite nice, very realistic and juicy, but who thought it was a good idea to mix it with such a musty base?
Even though the original Twilly is not quite my style, I find it nice enough: Zesty ginger, gentle tuberose, maybe a hint of a slight retro charm, but by no means a stale old basement kind of scent. Tutti Twilly smells like a misguided knockoff Twilly with added lychee on me.

Sorry to those who love it, maybe it smells better on other people or maybe I just don't get it, but I really don't like this at all. 3/10 only out of compassion for the poor lychee.

Horribly under-appreciated scent
I don't think Tutti Twilly smells like cat pee or b.o.! To me it smells like a photorealistic tropical fruit (probably lychee, right?) And a lot of times those fruits do have a bit of a funkiness to them even when fresh and not rotting, at least that's where my scent memory goes. I guess if you're more used to smelling cat pee and body odor than fruits, that's what you'll associate with this. I love the ginger flower note too, so beautiful and effervescent.

This reminds me of some of the vintage fruity-florals I've been sampling lately, not in the actual scent profile, necessarily, but the quality of having something sweet and bright and maybe a little confusing up top, with the animalic notes underneath. Today's audience is likely not used to these qualities anymore and expect everything to smell either like straight up laundry, or candy. I applaud Christine Nagel for having the creativity and vision to put forth something potentially polarizing and different. It really is pleasing, though, but perhaps it's all in the attitude.

I think this might even be a masterpiece and I am definitely going to buy someone's bottle they're desperately getting rid of for next to nothing because they didn't try it before they bought it.

Cheeky confidence of youth
I got a sample of this with my purchase and tested it yesterday before I had a chance to look at the notes. The first several seconds are very obvious and realistic lychee on musk - sweet, warm, vibrating in the air. But then some chemistry happens, probably with ginger flowers and it gets… tangy.

I hate to upset fans of this, but I did experience that “cat pee” moment. Mind you, it happened before I got online to read all the reviews, so it’s not me being suggestive. Also, this had nothing to do with my “skin chemistry” because it happened during the first several minutes. I remember thinking to myself, “Oh, now I get it! Now I understand how beautiful smells can morph into something ugly in seconds.” You see, I’ve read a lot of cat-pee-mentioning reviews of other scents, usually vintage, and never understood how on earth it can be. Now I know.

Anyway, thankfully, this phase didn’t last long, and it became once again lychee and freshness. I must admit I enjoyed wearing this to an extent. I am not a big fan of lychee or freshies, but I understand the appeal. I would love to smell this on someone, but it’s not my style.
It’s youthful, cheeky, and confident.

I see this fragrance as a blond rebellious girl, whom everyone around treats as an angelic princess, but who wants to be taken seriously, so she turns to impish escapades to assert herself. She is daring and inventive. She loves modern art. She channels the sixties – think Twiggy.

Also, I believe this is most suitable for spring and summer. Now it’s winter where I live, and it just doesn’t work because it makes me want to put on a mini-dress and show my skin to the sun. Near the end of the day, I also got an unexplainable pear impression, but again, fruitiness and freshness often come from pear in other scents.

I believe it deserves a lot of love, especially from the young audience, but this energy isn’t something I can relate to – only admire it from the third-person perspective.

Opening notes are beautiful, with sparkling lychee, but I'm not sure how I feel about the drydown with ginger flower coming out.
