"Woo" indeed!
A balmy, dark, unusual and terribly fascinating contemporary scent with the “allure” and the sensual depth of an old chypre: I get jasmine, benzoin, tobacco, a fantastic powdery note of rose, a subtle salty-anisic breeze and a shady, hyper-dark veil of leather on the base, dusted with something sweet, earthy and dusty (I thought of cocoa beans but I don’t see them listed). The ambergris note is there, and for once it is quite realistic: it is not the usual, artificial, musky ambroxan-driven note, but rather the smell of real ambergris, so a rooty, animalic, “organic” and salty note with a slight sort of iodine-camphorous aftertaste. Woo has the personality of old Guerlain’s (I thought of vintage Chamade, for instance) or other prominent vintage chypres, mostly because of leather, rose and the indolic whiffs of dead flowers, and it also quite reminds me of Dzing! by L’artisan. But at the same time, it’s totally new, fresh, creative and contemporary: the creativity here, for me, lies mostly in a really genius touch of salty iodine, a crystalline azure touch on a warm, dark blend centered on jasmine, tobacco and leather. A balmy, dark, warm yet fresh and sea-inspired scent that mixes a nostalgic inspiration with a futuristic, refined “azure-blackness”. Quite nondescript; try it if you have the chance to. As much terrific as overpriced though, but apparently House of Matriarch does heavy discounts sometimes (I guess it’s the only moment they manage to sell some bottles).

Woohoo :-)
Wow, is it thick, I thought to myself while applying the fragrance.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to our dear perfumer "reni379" for giving me the opportunity to test this scent and for sending me a sample.

Woo starts off quite heavy, you just have to wait about 5 minutes until it settles down; it doesn’t smell unpleasant or anything like that, it’s just unusual, and I can imagine that it’s because Woo is very thick.

Woo doesn’t really evolve on my skin; towards the end, it simply becomes a bit woodier.

After these 5 minutes, Woo actually knocks me off my feet.

Thick mango juice can be sniffed, you feel like you’ve taken real mango juice and generously smeared it on your arm.

It comes across as very authentic; I really enjoy drinking mango juice, and my roommate actually said that I had spilled my mango juice.

“Dude, this is Woo, smell it!”
“That’s crazy, it comes across as totally real.”

And that’s the case; you also feel like you actually have the pulp of a fully ripe mango on your wrist.

Alongside this mango, there’s something slightly cherry-like that reminds me of a fully blooming cherry blossom and gives the fragrance something very extraordinary that you don’t encounter every day.

In the background, you can beautifully sniff a dark purple plum, which, along with the other two notes, creates a deep warming, yet somehow summery evening connection.

And yet, there’s also something fresh - herbal to sniff, where I’m guessing thyme and sage.

This constellation lasts about 2 hours before the scent becomes even darker; it gains something cozy, something deep, slightly smoky, which I attribute to the tobacco.

After 6 hours, Woo becomes very cuddly; black leather and pure sweet vanilla give the fragrance an aura that is truly extremely pleasant.

Amber wraps itself like a veil around the entire composition and adds a touch of woody sweetness to the scent.

Overall, the fragrance can be detected on my skin for 8 hours.

The sillage is designed from the very beginning to be clearly perceived at half an arm's length.

This is maintained until the 3rd hour, before the scent then becomes very close to the skin.

Scents from Another World
I have been interested in the fragrances from HoM for a while now, and I am very curious about what this extraordinary perfume house has to offer. One thing I can say after testing 3 fragrances is: everything here smells a bit different, fruits, flowers, gourmands, everything doesn’t smell like what our noses might be used to. For me, the woody notes are in the foreground so far; it reminds me of distant lands like India. Incense sticks, clothing with many striking colors, tea, elephants. All these things usually come to mind when I wear a fragrance from HoM.

Today I am testing Woo. A very interesting name. Who does this fragrance want to entice? This becomes clear to me quite quickly: My interest :) It doesn’t get boring with this scent even though I don’t perceive a significant fragrance development. From the very beginning, it smells of fine tobacco leaves soaked in a warm liquid, drizzled with an oil made from floral essences. Which ones exactly I cannot figure out, but I find this blend very pleasant. A light, almost white leather joins in quite quickly, and so it stays for a while. A minimal light sweetness, which may come from the vanilla, and also a light wood then join in after about 1 hour. Nothing much else happens except that the scent becomes quite close to the skin and softer.

Here I also have to think of those little Indian/alternative shops where you can buy clothes, Buddhas, and incense sticks. For me, it’s a different scent experience, very interesting and incredibly free. I am curious about what else HoM has to offer me; I will report back. So far, I am definitely very enthusiastic about the fragrances even though I wouldn’t want to wear them daily, but rather for special moments, at home with myself :)

After a typically awkward short start, sweet flowers unfold in combination with a spicy wood note and lots of sweet resin. Very hippie-like.

If country house wooden bedrooms, lederhosen, boiled milk with pod, and alpine chamomile flowers were ever erotic, it’s with "Woo"!

I perceive Woo differently every time: sometimes incense stick chypre like from an esoteric shop, sometimes incense body cream like from a grande dame. Exciting.

At first, intensely floral. Colorful. Loud. Crazy and wicked.
Then, indulging in a wellness oasis.
Enchanting and narcotic.

A unique scent. Very unusual combination of tobacco, leather, flowers, a hint of sweetness, and some woodiness. I like it :)
