For Double Zeros to Dive Into
The James Bond 007 fragrance machine seems to be running smoothly, as otherwise, how can one explain that this obscure brand keeps churning out one scent after another? It's hard to keep up with the writing and nose-wrinkling. While the fourth fragrance with the dismal name "Quantum" is being squeezed onto the market, this seemingly royal blue offshoot must definitely be put to the test.

At the same time, I seriously wonder why I voluntarily put myself through this. There are so many other wonderful fragrances waiting to ignite a grand olfactory experience for me... However, I feel compelled to dig deeper into a brand under the wing of P&G, which so thoroughly tarnishes the holy spirit of James Bond 007 olfactorily. No, I had no high expectations, and I was accordingly not disappointed. Ocean Royale is simply a cheap wannabe summer scent, showing that the budget went into purchasing the licensing rights rather than into the artisanal skills of a perfumer, let alone any quality ingredients.

The stuff starts off relatively fresh with aquatic fruity hints, as if it wanted to compete with Cool Water and Nightflight at first, only to take a turn towards a rubbery monotony. Here and there, you can make out some pleasant notes, but then everything falls apart into a mushy mess that even the chief lab technicians at LR could have been responsible for.

The pyramid is a complete joke, and there's nothing to laugh about. What awaits you here are the cheapest synthetic contents that can hardly withstand an entire James Bond film, including the credits. The drydown is somewhat okay, but it can't save the overall impression. While it is a tad more fitting in terms of the base theme than the predecessor fragrance, it remains uninspired and too weak. This has nothing to do with 007 and is at best on the level of "Clever & Smart."

It should be almost self-evident that the discerning perfume enthusiast will steer clear of this, but I would rather advise all undecided fragrance novices to at least look for a better and more tasteful alternative in drugstores. Do not support this nonsense; otherwise, the sellout of our esteemed agent under the James Bond series will never end.

Ocean Banal
What does One Million have to do with James Bond? Nothing at all, it fits zero. What does One Million have to do with the sea? No connection. Why does the blue 007 perfume smell like the successful gold bar? Nobody knows.

I have no idea what the creators of the Bond perfumes are thinking, but with the new blue offshoot, they have easily surpassed the already poor, immature original. The first hour is a 100% One Million imitation, and in the end, it briefly becomes cinnamon sweet, which reminds me of the dark original. Both give me goosebumps and make me shake my head. But the original sold like crazy during the Skyfall time, so they had to somehow process the profit. Horrible! Only the coffee note mixed with a bit of the cheapest iris saves it a little towards the end. But only because those are 2 components that would still convince me even in kindergarten quality!

Sillage was quite strong, but the scent lasted just 5 hours. It could have stopped even earlier. The bottle is cheap, but I like it in blue better than in black.

At least as much to be avoided as the first Bond scent! The English gentleman does not deserve that, and the fragrances are even worse than Die Another Day!

Ocean Kloyale
Finally ;-) The new James Bond fragrance! The world has been waiting for this...

The bottle is as innovative as ever, just in a different color, the name is sensational, a nod to Casino Royale, only with Ocean in front! I am totally thrilled! *grumble*

So then, he is a daredevil, that James. Just as daring, I spray a puff on my wrist. *Drumroll*

Oh no. It is supposed to represent the ocean (?), okay fine, you can tell, sea water including dried algae, mixed with totally royal vinegar essence and Dr. Oetker lemon zest from the packet. Piercing!

After 5 minutes, the cannon is already empty, and it reloads with cheap-sweet iris and a questionable wood mix that strongly reminds me of Grandpa's beloved aftershave. That lasts about an hour - and then - PUFF! - James is gone again.

Probably it was too embarrassing for him to go on his missions smelling like this, especially after all the women turned away from him due to their associations with toilet cleaning products. So he decides to put on something decent first and rename his new fragrance to use it as a scent for his little bathroom. However, to sell "Casino Kloyale," the price needs to be significantly lowered.

After his debut was such a dud, he now takes a nice vacation, marked by shame and self-doubt about whether he should turn away from the art of perfume making.

And hopefully thinks about not offering us such rubbish. Thank you.

The Beginning of the Journey
Here it is... Ocean Royale. This is where it all started back then. It was the first one in my collection.

As a big James Bond fan, I wished for it for Christmas when I was 13. My wish came true. My first perfume. My Holy Grail at the age of 13. This is where growing up began for me.

Now, nearly 9 years later, I have it as a memory in my collection. However, I rarely want to use it, and there are reasons for that.

Scent:
The first thing you smell is the synthetic note, reminiscent of nail polish remover. Shortly after, the artificial bergamot and lime come into play, and I can barely detect the anise in the background.
Once the top note settles, you can faintly sense sweet woods, unfortunately more on the stinky side. That was about it.

Sillage and Longevity:
Terrible. I can smell it at most for 1.5 hours up close.

Bottle:
The bottle is fine, nothing special, but it does its job quite well. I like the twist mechanism for opening and closing the spray head.

Price-Performance:
There are much better options for the price of around €30 for 100 ml.

Unfortunately, I just can't write anything better about my former teenage love "007 Ocean Royale."

Ocean Canal, or How to Make Money
One takes a great name, in this case 007, buys a license, not to kill, calls it Ocean Eleven, no Ocean Royal, because otherwise one would recognize the intentions, kidnaps a few mediocre bunglers who claim they produced perfume in chemistry class, puts them under the threat of being extradited to North Korea, into a lab and waits for the product. This is then marketed with huge advertising efforts and one enjoys the profit.
That's roughly how it went down.

Ocean Royale was unfortunately a blind purchase for me. I had bought Armani's Nuit and needed some bonus points for my customer card, 007 was nearby and cheap, oops, bad luck, my own fault.

The stuff smells like fruit gum only to quickly flip into an aquatic note after a very short time. That's quite clumsy, they should have perhaps gotten someone from Davidoff or Aramis, who know how to do this. Only to simply dissipate after about ten minutes. Apparently, this is the program for all 007 scents, I can even still smell the Lynx Africa shower gel. The scent has simply "atomized" on my skin.

When I look at the fragrance pyramid, I am very surprised. The creators should get a Nobel Prize for the evolution of a scent in 10 seconds. Incredible.
Just "Jamaican coffee" (more like ganja), then I wonder a.) where it is and b.) what kind it is supposed to be. I know Blue Mountain coffee and I know what it costs. I can't imagine that the producers spent much money at all. It really smells like students experimented with a chemistry kit and this is the result. And again, a large online retailer has mostly positive comments, hard to believe.

I think, when I'm in England again (the flights from us aren't that expensive and a weekend is always worth it), I will go to 89 Jermyn St. and pay a visit to the company Floris. And I will make my own impression of James Bond's favorite scent, just as Ian Fleming described it. It is by no means a gentleman's scent, rather one for wannabes.

For double zeros to dive into. An ocean full of synthetics and cheap excuses. No one needs this - not even Bond fans!

It doesn't need to exist. It doesn't get more O815 than this. Synthetic, disgusting, and unnecessary. Just a marketing product.. Nothing more. Total flop.

Sillage is strong in the first hours despite a low dosage. Very oriental-sweet (e.g. like Joop homme), not bad but no "WOW".

Words of warning:
Aquatic in a bland sweet wave
Limitlessly artificial appearance
Infinitely weakly developed
Better off without a scent

Unfortunately, it always makes me feel sick, extremely sharp like glue. It tries to smell fresh or spicy, but is overwhelmed by the glue.

Bond trusted his instinct. His companion wore a chypre, so a contrast would heat up the tension. Sweet-spicy coffee & go.

I don't find the 007 fragrances that bad either. I've been told this one has a pretty good sillage.

The worst scent I've ever had!!! Smells way too synthetic and reminds me of a cheap deodorant. H/S is bad.
