Immense Tendresse
The first observation is the misleading name, although there are indeed notes listed in the pyramid that could be pure or overwhelming... if they wanted to.
JLSI starts tightly woven with bergamot and a decent splash of mandarin, with the latter coming across more candied than zesty. This suits my nose and my head very well, as I notoriously have "health issues" with the overly frequent presence of orange notes in perfumes ;-) .
However, JLSI is very gracious and instead of dousing me with concentrated mandarin juice, it wraps me in the finest subtly orange silk, and I suddenly feel cocooned. This scent is gentle and mild, sweet and protective, quiet and soft-edged. Other fragrances from JLS are significantly richer, of course in the most positive sense. The character of Immense is quite pleasant and good-natured for me. The scent remains almost unchanged after spraying on fabric and skin. A wonderfully balanced mix of the top note and a perfectly rounded balm of all notes wafts warmly from both. In the base, patchouli nobly stays in the background, sandalwood only contributes a word and leaves the closing argument to a noble and very exquisite vanilla. JLSI is a feel-good fragrance. It starts quite strong and then dims down to an invisible scent veil around the wearer. Thus, the sillage is neither overwhelming nor intrusive. Each of my movements fans a hint towards me. And I have the feeling that it is exclusively for me or for those who come close enough to perceive it. However, this aura has a strong presence, as the scent lasts extremely long. On me, it reminds me a bit of Absolu by Rochas or its Alchimie. Fragrances that catch you as if you were falling into a huge cotton ball from a clear sky, from which you do not want to be rescued. Fragrances that you want to inhale and keep trapped within yourself. The color of the JLSI "scent balm" is very apt. However, in the 100ml bottle, it stands a whole 22cm tall, already a huge chunk and a handbag filler. Usually, it is the large bottle that is more interesting in price. You can always decant it. I find the scent more suitable for temperatures that exclude summer. Nevertheless, I will test it at over 25°C. I trust it to skillfully and nobly master any situation with me here as well...
