Old love never rusts!!
The "Scherrers" are an illustrious family! Each of its members carries a completely different scent. I LOVE one of them, it's the "Ur- Scherrer" with its cool chypre demeanor. Another representative I can tolerate somewhat, the "Nuits de Indiennes"... a third I don't like at all: the "Scherrer 2", which stands in complete contrast to the "Number 1" with its "screechingly sweet" character.
And the fourth of the "Scherrereien" I know will probably not provide me with such experiences, as it will become a hearty, heartfelt lover's scent for my nose, if it isn't already!
To be precise, the theme of Oud & Roses has been interpreted countless times. Sometimes more, sometimes less accurately for my taste. Sometimes the woods fit "like a glove," but the rose flounders weakly in the background. At other times, the rose has juice and power, but is too sweet and "showy," leaving the oud almost sidelined. Then again, everything fits: oud and rose, spices and fruits, the sweeter and the more bitter elements are in the right place, have the best possible expressiveness, and come across as lively and deep! There are only a few fragrances that achieve THAT for me. Three or four quite affordable "Orientals" belong to that group, two "Montales" that get it just right. And, as it should be: THIS Scherrer!
It has a wonderfully bittersweet, slightly fruity fully bloomed scent rose, the warm character of freshly picked saffron, the wonderfully spiced inner life has hit just the right note, and the dark woods, including the oud, are subtly garnished with wonderfully dark Bourbon vanilla! Just a hint, but without it, something important would be missing.
And: qualitatively very high quality at an affordable price.
An old Oud & Rose love, indeed, with edges and corners. Not just because it’s called "Scherrer."
Because it goes so deep and is "perfectly imperfect"! :-))
