rich sweet oriental
The main notes selected by members above go for the drydown. This weird but gorgeous one, starts out full of aldehydes and sweet lovely fruits and flowers. It transforms after a while into a warm bunch of syrupy flowers laying under a layer of high quality powders. It ends in a very sweet animalic-balsamic oriental scent which isn't loud in my skin.

I find it rich, sparkling, bright and exuberant. It has the boldness and strength of the last century's ending decades perfumes but with an incredible rich sweetness that shadows some of the more recent orientals. This is a complex, and not so common blend of ingredients, that evolves beautifully along the first four hours on me. This combination of originality, deliciousness and complexity in evolution isn't new coming from the nose which created this perfume.

Sillage won't be agressive if you apply properly and I can still feel it after seven hours, so for my demanding skin, it is a long lasting perfume.

I love it and I'm really happy I could find a bottle after having tested it for a while. I suggest all very sweet oriental flower lovers to try it before it becomes absolutely imposible to find a bottle. The bottle by the way is beautiful too.

In the still of the night.
Autum is the depository of myriades of colors and scents, more than any other season and I realized that Nuits de Scherrer is like an autum evening, when you wrap youself in a soft robe and cuddle down in a chair...The room is warm and lights are dim and , from time to time, you can get a whiff of wood furniture and leather - is this the warm sandalwood?- and the entincing aroma of fruit from the basket placed on the coffee table. The French window is ajar and, on that rainy evening, the wings of the wind find their way inside with a cool touch . The night is falling and the only noise you can hear, more and more seldom, is the "swooooosh" of tires on the wet streets. And then, all is still.
Nuits de Scherrer is softly speaking to me and I like the sound of its voice.

The Scherrers, a Classy Fragrance Family
Before I get to Nuits, I must briefly pay my respects to the fragrances from Scherrer. Scherrer, the classic from 1979, is a green-spicy, fresh chypre that I have loved for many years and enjoy wearing again and again. Years later, I got to know Scherrer 2, a honey-sweet oriental that I like despite its sweetness, but I apply it sparingly, especially since Mr. Pluto likes it a lot (that's why it recently moved back in). Then came One Love, a cool, elegant chypre that I greatly appreciate and which makes one seem a bit aloof, sometimes necessary at work. And now, thanks to MissKitty, Nuits de Scherrer, which captivates me…. And actually, like Scherrer 2, it is more suited for dark, cold winter evenings.

Nevertheless, I am wearing Nuits de Scherrer today, during the day and at the office; it has a comforting quality, helps to overcome the winter blues, and makes one forget about sleet showers, it is warm and soft.

Nuits starts fruity with peach and citrus notes, only slightly sour. Quickly, heliotrope and lilac join in, merging into a floral almond cream. Benzoin adds an oriental resinous, slightly sweet tone, while sandalwood darkens it earthy, and the civet is only very subtly used. Otherwise, Mr. Pluto would have already used the nasty term cat pee, as he is very sensitive to that. The tonka bean in the base provides the sweet-bitter amaretto aroma. All these ingredients come together to form a creamy, soft oriental that enchants. Believe me, even the constantly grumpy, sulky courier driver cracked a smile in the lift today and responded to my greeting; you could almost see a smile.

Sillage and longevity are in the medium to good range, the ribbed, slender glass bottle is aesthetically pleasing and fits well in the hand. The wearable season is autumn to spring; I exclude high summer, but who knows… And the target audience is clearly female.

Night Cream
Rather conventional-citrusy-fruity nuances can occasionally surprise: Not sour from boredom at all, but peach-radiant-silky and mandarin-fresh, the night approaches gently. No evaporating lacquer layer, truly pleasant fruitiness with softness, thanks to the peach. Ripe, plump, seasoned with bergamot. May night - well, the peach is imported and not seasonal - and therefore the lilac turns rather bitter. Interesting, because in its conflict with jasmine and the annoyance over the rolling fruit, it really acquires an unusual, actually bittersweet note that reminds me a lot of "Rumeur" with a half-abstract magnolia note. "Nuits" is certainly fuller and heavier, but both offer in the meantime a dry and unusual tone. "Initial" by Boucheron also goes in a similar direction, but I felt it lacked a touch more "initial spark."
"Nuits" then increasingly becomes a medium-heavy oriental: The woody-balsamic treasures are brought forth, to which the tonka beans have given a very soft, non-blinding shine. Civet? No, the little jar was probably just empty. That might have been exciting.
But even so: "Nuits" - a fine evening scent, luxurious-night-creamy - strange that it is so rarely encountered. A modern-classically conceived fragrance without over-tonnage, stylish-ascetic bottled in a straight flacon with ridges and a smooth front, discreetly placed lettering. Noble restraint with high quality - but no boredom!

The Scherrer divas never do it under the big robe, and there's something to that: powdery floral orgy, fruity sweetness, edges and angles.

Blossoms cuddle under a blanket of almond cream and tonka, resins & woods add seriousness. A fragrant delight, elegant & never "over the top."

Sweet and citrusy at first, then increasingly floral almond cream (heliotrope), base of tonka bean. Lush floriental, pure seduction.

At Scherrer, they go all out, not half-heartedly. A lush floral explosion with a creamy-sweet base that you need to dose carefully, or else it threatens.

Oriental with a zesty, floral-fruity opening, then more creamy, soft-woody, and close to the skin. Fades gently over 3 hours.

Creamy cosmetic scent + slightly woody benzoin scent + a bit of green-fresh mixed with 90s fruity notes (mandarin, lemon, melon?)
